Anna Vescovi
Anna Vescovi is a Fibers (Textile) BFA graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, specializing in surface illustration, print design, art direction and material innovation. Previously a dancer under Boston Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet, Vescovi uses her former career as an allegorical catalyst for her textile works. Vescovi’s primary inspiration is derived from Scandinavian design principles which are employed by print collections, fashion-forward textiles and multi-disciplinary surfaces alike. Her work has been recognized and published internationally by the Italian A’Design Award, Surface Design Association, Voyage Los Angeles and Veranda Magazine.

Anna Vescovi
My name is Anna Vescovi, I'm a textile designer with a concentration in surface illustration, pattern and material exploration. Formerly a ballet dancer with the Boston Ballet and Royal Danish Ballet, I wish to incorporate elements from both my past career and present studies to educate audiences on the beauty of strength, perseverance and most importantly, to initiate crucial discussions of body dysmorphia within 4D realms of art and design. Currently, I'm working towards the completion of my senior thesis, divided into two themes which identify the diversion between restriction and freedom. This thesis employs story-telling as a means to convey said message through fashion, theatrics and material exploration. All textiles have a voice to share, a special gift to evoke emotion through texture and touch. The properties of materiality, when worn, can makeup feel liberated- or entrapped in a tangle of fabrication. The present thesis works to marry the past and present, conveyed in a collection of garments of both soft and rigid fabrications. We interact with textiles in every moment, but are often overlooked by much of society. Through creating unconventionally modern garments, perhaps we will pay closer attention to materiality reflected in a greater light.
