Harbour.Space University
Created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs Harbour.Space University bridges the gap between today’s high-tech industry and traditional education. Harbour.Space is a new university that utilises progressive ways of learning and actively recruits the best tech talent around the world. It was founded in 2015 by a group of visionaries who recognised the need for a purely tech-based, real world-inspired learning institution to help fill the current global talent development shortage. The first of its kind in Europe, it is one of the only institutions dedicated to entrepreneurship, technology, and design. It is composed of ten programmes held in English in a format of intensive three-week modules all year round with short breaks between modules: Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security, Front-end Development, Interaction Design, Digital Marketing, High-Tech Entrepreneurship, FinTech, Robotics and Super Cities. As an innovative private university, we collaborate with the most relevant professionals today and strive to be an active incubator for talented young people. The programmes are based on two primary components of equal weight: strong foundational component and lots of application courses. We are giving particular attention to the development of soft skills and the ability for interdisciplinary collaboration. Our graduates are tomorrow’s technology leaders and go on to work for corporations, design agencies or consultancies, academic and industrial research labs, and to launch their own startup. The university is led by Dr. Ingo Beyer von Morgenstern who, in the past, led McKinsey’s Global High Tech Practice and is currently a professor at Technical University of Munich and Tsinghua SEM. Among our design faculty, you can find Joshua Davis, David Mikula, Miki Aso, Riccardo Giraldi, Rachel Inman, Matthew Waldman, Munish Dabas, Ben Hughes and many others. At Harbour.Space the protagonist is the student because it’s our students who are in charge of the future. Our mission is to nurture and accelerate talent, supported by the most knowledgeable and successful people in technology and design. Harbour.Space allows for brilliant ideas to flourish and produce solutions to contemporary societal challenges around themes such as the environment, health, energy and security. We aim to become the most progressive educational technology and design institution on a global level. By collaborating at the highest level with industry and academia, we endeavour to develop an unparalleled environment for the cross-pollination of scientific and creative disciplines that leads to ground-breaking research and fast and flexible ways to apply new knowledge in practice. Our Interaction Design programme blends technical know-how, interdisciplinary research and a creative artistic-scientific approach to develop creative interfaces that generate progressive and innovative applications for media design, media research, media art, and communication. The programme explores new roles, contexts and approaches for interaction design and trains students to research, analyse, prototype, and design concepts in business, social, and cultural contexts within existing and emerging technologies. The department of Interaction Design is led by internationally renowned creative UXD duo Irene Pereyra and Anton Repponen.
