PolyPlay Web is an online inspirational platform showcasing over 150 Hong Kong design experiments. PolyPlay investigates the mutually beneficial relationships between design, play, and education. Bridging academia, industry, and community, its research is anchored in the exploration of play and conventions of interactivity, drawing on characteristics of traditional and contemporary objects and technology to develop innovative product-service systems. The platform is used to inspire students, extol innovative approaches, inform research, foster collaboration, and commercialize projects.
Having lived in Asia, Africa, America, and Europe, Rémi’s understanding of the representations of these cultures invigorate his design and research perspectives. He has worked on socially responsible projects in Hong Kong, Paris, and New York. Rémi chairs PolyU Design's Undergraduate Programme Committee. He runs its PolyPlay lab, which investigates the mutually beneficial relationships between design, play, and education. Its research is anchored in the exploration of play and conventions of interactivity, drawing on characteristics of traditional and contemporary objects and technology to develop innovative product-service systems. Bridging school, industry, and community, PolyPlay projects are marketed and awarded in local and international design competitions.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design (PolyU Design) has been a leading design education and research hub for Asia since 1964. Academic programmes are offered at higher diploma, bachelor, master, and doctoral levels, in very diverse design expertise fields. At undergraduate level these include Advertising Design, Communication Design, Digital Media, Environment and Interior Design, Interactive Media, Product Design, and Social Design. Students engage with industry, community, and institution through commercial and service projects, and win international and local design awards. Under the aegis of a three-pronged research agenda encompassing Social, Making, and Business aspects of design service, PolyU Design faculty engage in research and development projects and rank among the most productive researchers in Asia, with publications and high-impact projects serving the local and international community.
