About Zhongqi Fu : I’m Zhongqi Fu, an award-winning product designer based in the United States and currently a Senior Product Designer at Reveleer, where I lead user experience design across healthcare SaaS and AI-driven platforms. Previously, I worked as a founding product designer for multiple startups, partnering closely with leadership and engineering teams to drive both product innovation and business growth from 0 to 1. With a Master’s degree in Architecture from Columbia University and a career transition into digital product and experience design, I bring a systems-thinking mindset that bridges physical, digital, and service design—offering a unique perspective to the A’ Design Award community.
Why I Want to Be an A’ Design Award Juror?
I want to serve as an A’ Design Award juror because I strongly believe in its multidisciplinary scope, rigorous evaluation standards, and global influence. Throughout my work in healthcare, renewable energy, AI, and enterprise platforms, I have seen how thoughtful design can generate measurable social, environmental, and economic impact. A’ Design Award’s emphasis on innovation, functionality, sustainability, and feasibility closely aligns with how I assess design quality in practice.
As an international juror, I aim to contribute a transparent, criteria-driven evaluation approach that looks beyond surface aesthetics to examine problem framing, execution quality, and real-world value. As a Chinese-born, U.S.-based female designer, I am also deeply committed to expanding visibility and opportunity for underrepresented designers—particularly minority Asian women—while upholding fairness, integrity, and excellence within the global design community. When I think about design and art, I see them as parallel languages that shape how people experience the world. Design gives structure to life, while art gives it meaning. Together, they translate human values, behaviors, and emotions into tangible forms — whether physical spaces, digital systems, or visual narratives. To me, design is not a final object, but an evolving dialogue between people, context, and intention. My perspective is deeply influenced by my multidisciplinary background and my formal training in architectural design at Columbia University. Architecture taught me to think beyond surfaces — to consider structure, spatial logic, human movement, and time. It instilled a systems-oriented mindset that continues to guide my work as I transitioned into product and UX/UI design. Whether working with physical environments or digital interfaces, I approach design holistically, considering how each element contributes to a larger ecosystem and how people inhabit that system in their daily lives. In both architecture and digital design, I believe the role of the designer is to solve human problems with clarity and care. Aesthetics matter, but only when they serve purpose. Design should reduce complexity, support decision-making, and create experiences that feel intuitive and respectful. This philosophy has guided my work across technology-driven industries, where design often acts as the bridge between complex systems and human understanding. Good design, in my view, quietly empowers people — it does not demand attention, but earns trust through thoughtfulness. Art plays an essential role in shaping this approach. While design is often measured by function and efficiency, art introduces emotion, storytelling, and cultural awareness. Art allows space for ambiguity and reflection, helping design move beyond utility toward meaning. I am particularly drawn to work that balances rational structure with emotional resonance — where form, narrative, and experience are thoughtfully aligned. This balance is where design becomes timeless rather than trend-driven. As a Chinese-born and raised female designer, my work is also informed by lived experience. I have witnessed how design can open doors for women and underrepresented voices, creating new spaces for participation and leadership. Design, especially in the digital era, has the power to challenge traditional hierarchies and foster inclusion. I believe empathy is not a soft skill, but a design strength — one that allows deeper understanding of users, contexts, and cultural nuance. Through design, empathy becomes action. Ultimately, I see design and art as practices rooted in responsibility. They shape behaviors, influence perceptions, and leave lasting impact. My goal is to create work that is thoughtful, inclusive, and enduring — work that respects human complexity and contributes positively to society.
