Interview with Angelo Senatore at Monday 30th of September 2013

FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
AS: My education is technique and I was always fascinated by design. I became a designer of windows and doors thanks to extensive knowledge of these two large families of products, developed in the company family. No, I did not think of becoming a designer.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
AS: I work at the moment only for the family business

FS: What is "design" for you?
AS: beauty and functionality

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
AS: Windows and doors, but probabily I prefer windows, they are more complicated

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
AS: semplicity

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
AS: A door collection where a few elements could combine different door styles

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
AS: wood

FS: When do you feel the most creative?
AS: When traveling

FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
AS: depends on the project, in any case all aspects are important, but the beauty is the thing that fascinates me most of all

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
AS: rather than emotion I feel the ambition to change the way you see things

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
AS: is the most complex, the most delicate one in which also many other people can judge the product and then await their judgment, to strengthen my opinion

FS: What makes a design successful?
AS: innovation and functionality

FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
AS: if you make a substantial improvement

FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
AS: the greatest responsibility is to create sustainable products that improve people's lives

FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
AS: I think the design come increasingly become part of everyday life, can be surrounded by objects that join function, style and respect for the environment is desirable. I think this is the direction in which we are going

FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
AS: Made Expo in Milan, last year. In the same place

FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
AS: My design inspiration come from my personal needs

FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
AS: my design is inspired by the simplicity and subtraction

FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
AS: I live in Naples, city ​​full of wealth, style and culture. My design is inspired by the city as need to appreciate it even within the house and then talking about windows to all that you can do to don't create barriers between me and my city

AS: I work from 7.30 am to 9.00 pm, on week end I stay with my family

AS: always design new products
