Interview with Chun -Fang Mao at Friday 29th of May 2020 FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator? CFM: I am currently the design director of a design studio and have more than 25 years of experience in the industry. I am also a lecturer in the design department of the university. The clients I serve include managers of listed companies in Taiwan. FS: How did you become a designer? CFM: Currently is the design director of the design studio, and also serves as a lecturer in the design department of the university/After graduating from high school, I went to many professional design companies, and then developed a strong interest in interior design/The motivation to do good things through good design/Childhood interest development FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing? CFM: When the work is about to be completed/The feeling of owning the final product or completing the project/Praised by the owner/The joy of helping owners realize their dreams FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer? CFM: Oriental Lao Zhuang philosophy,The way of thinking of Lao Zhuang's philosophy has influenced the direction of thinking about exploring the essence of beauty; the second is that the philosophical methodology has a direct influence on the formation of the theory of artistic conception; the third is the aesthetic orientation of Chinese art/Still learning the mysteries of its use FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career? CFM: Have more time to participate in forums and travel arrangements , participate in international design competitions to learn more FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects? CFM: Self-reflection, continuous improvement, and modesty, the secret of successful design FS: What is your day to day look like? CFM: Start at 9 am every day / arrange work after reading design news / read related design materials / take a coffee or tea break FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter? CFM: Collect relevant design art materials at any time / build a completely designed / integrated information / daily observation FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design? CFM: Complete a purposeful creative act FS: Who is your favourite designer? CFM: Japanese architect Oki Sato /Yes/Dame Zaha Mohammad Hadid/Ludwig Mies van der Rohe/Ludwig Mies van der Rohe/ FS: Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy? CFM: Easy / work with partners / easy / those with the same idea / same idea / enthusiasm / weak business development / integrated design / meet the requirements of the owner and create an aesthetic space with added emotional value FS: What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect? CFM: Take the society, use it for society
