Interview with Quark Studio Architects at Wednesday 14th of June 2023 ![]() FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator? QSA: Founded in 2012 by three architects of different cultural backgrounds united by the common passion for architectural and interior design, Quark Studio Architects aim to deliver something more than a traditional design company FS: How did you become a designer? QSA: Our company is formed by individuals who think they must design to make a world a better place. So it's an educated preference. FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing? QSA: We mainly focus on the challenge. We try to respond it as best as we can while making sure that the response provided is both sustainable and beautiful. FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing? QSA: Excitement and fulfillment. FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer? QSA: We believe that being analytical people helps a lot when designing. Especially when analyzing the challenge and making sure that the solution counts. FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project? QSA: We try to shift our aspect more to institutional projects such as hospitals and healthcare facilities. Our dream project would be an airport. FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career? QSA: Observe, iterate, and do. FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects? QSA: The best practice would be to study previous design responses given to major challenges and try to derivate as much as possible from them. FS: What is your day to day look like? QSA: The usual day goes with responding to emails. Taking care of previous days of design works. Making sure that they are neat and perfect. Every once in awhile getting busy with clients as well. FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter? QSA: Design trends matter only if they present a new approach to already existing challenges. We follow a lot of publications digitally. FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design? QSA: We as architects generally know where to look at. Most of the time, as they say, the devil is hidden in the details. An idea can be conceptualized very well but as long as the details are not perfect we cannot say that its perfectly designed. FS: How do you decide if your design is ready? QSA: The design is never ready. Only the deadline is above us. There is always room for a design to get better. FS: What is your biggest design work? QSA: It is a mixed-use project consisting of a hotel, 72 villas, restaurants, and spa facilities. FS: Who is your favourite designer? QSA: 3XN, Snohetta, UN Studio. FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture? QSA: We are three architects coming from totally different cultures. So what matters in our union is the diversity rather than the feats of a specific cultural background. This diversity proves itself useful when trying to approach challenges fro multiple possible ways. FS: Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy? QSA: We value and maintain a fun, friendly and innovative place where everyone is valued and looked after. We know that every client is different and each project expresses unique goals and aspirations. Together, we create places that connect, engage and inspire. FS: What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect? QSA: we haven't done such a thing yet. We are still a very young company. FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award? QSA: We are very happy that our work is recognized internationally and awarded. That is providing more motivation and as it is very well known, motivation usually brings innovation.
