Interview with Anna Muratova at Monday 20th of May 2019 ![]() FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator? AM: I have been engaged in design relatively recently, over a year. After graduation from university I had internships in design at Strelka and Cotton Club. Now I work as a web designer in Svyaznoy and create banners and promo sites. FS: How did you become a designer? AM: As a child I always enjoyed creating something new and I made websites as a hobby. However, I bacame designer reletevely recently. While studying in master degree in applied mathematics and computer science in HSE one of the subjects was UI UX, which I really enjoyed. So after that I decided to learn more about design and in parallel with my studies I completed additional education in HSE in graphic design. Also, I listened several online design courses. FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing? AM: My design process starts from structuring all the given information, then sketching different variations and selecting the best one. And after that making it visually attractive. As for the style, I enjoy minimalism and interesting creative ideas. FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing? AM: I always feel inspired when I have new project, especially the process of thinking how can I better implement the idea into design. And looking at finished project always makes me feel happy and excited. FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer? AM: One of the non-design skills that helped me to become a better designer are the ability to structure information and extract from it main things. FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project? AM: I enjoy making promo sites and landing pages overall, because it's like telling a short story, but in a visual way. In the future I want to make interactive websites with animation. FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career? AM: Just enjoy design overall and be passionate about it. FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects? AM: I suggest constantly reading and learning new things about design, studying trends and design news. FS: What is your day to day look like? AM: In the morning I usually read design news or look at Behance projects. Then when I go to work, frst of all, I look at my tasks for the day and plan what should I do first and what next. At dinner time we usuallly go to play basketball with collegues at the street. FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter? AM: I enjoy reading and learning about design trends from different resources. I think that design trend are good, but you shouldn't always use them, only in projects, where they are suitable. FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design? AM: Good design has an unusual idea, satisfies the customer and is suitable for target audience. Also, when you look at this design you understand that everything fits together perfectly. FS: How do you decide if your design is ready? AM: I decide that design is ready, when I'm happy with the final result and don't think that anything in it should be changed. FS: What is your biggest design work? AM: My biggesst design work is promo site for Sony, extrabase on svyaznoy.ru website. FS: Who is your favourite designer? AM: It's hard to pick only one designer, I enjoy different designers works. FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture? AM: Usually I get inspired from nature and also I like to make design while listening to the music. FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award? AM: There are lots of positive experiences that A'Design Award gives you! For example, certificate for the design, exhibition with the work and also opportunity to become a member at differnet design clubs and initiatives and so much more. I really happy that I was selected as Designer of the Day!
