Interview with Anna Muratova at Monday 20th of May 2019

FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
AM: I have been engaged in design relatively recently, over a year. After graduation from university I had internships in design at Strelka and Cotton Club. Now I work as a web designer in Svyaznoy and create banners and promo sites.

FS: How did you become a designer?
AM: As a child I always enjoyed creating something new and I made websites as a hobby. However, I bacame designer reletevely recently. While studying in master degree in applied mathematics and computer science in HSE one of the subjects was UI UX, which I really enjoyed. So after that I decided to learn more about design and in parallel with my studies I completed additional education in HSE in graphic design. Also, I listened several online design courses.

FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
AM: My design process starts from structuring all the given information, then sketching different variations and selecting the best one. And after that making it visually attractive. As for the style, I enjoy minimalism and interesting creative ideas.

FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing?
AM: I always feel inspired when I have new project, especially the process of thinking how can I better implement the idea into design. And looking at finished project always makes me feel happy and excited.

FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
AM: One of the non-design skills that helped me to become a better designer are the ability to structure information and extract from it main things.

FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
AM: I enjoy making promo sites and landing pages overall, because it's like telling a short story, but in a visual way. In the future I want to make interactive websites with animation.

FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
AM: Just enjoy design overall and be passionate about it.

FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
AM: I suggest constantly reading and learning new things about design, studying trends and design news.

FS: What is your day to day look like?
AM: In the morning I usually read design news or look at Behance projects. Then when I go to work, frst of all, I look at my tasks for the day and plan what should I do first and what next. At dinner time we usuallly go to play basketball with collegues at the street.

FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?
AM: I enjoy reading and learning about design trends from different resources. I think that design trend are good, but you shouldn't always use them, only in projects, where they are suitable.

FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
AM: Good design has an unusual idea, satisfies the customer and is suitable for target audience. Also, when you look at this design you understand that everything fits together perfectly.

FS: How do you decide if your design is ready?
AM: I decide that design is ready, when I'm happy with the final result and don't think that anything in it should be changed.

FS: What is your biggest design work?
AM: My biggesst design work is promo site for Sony, extrabase on svyaznoy.ru website.

FS: Who is your favourite designer?
AM: It's hard to pick only one designer, I enjoy different designers works.

FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
AM: Usually I get inspired from nature and also I like to make design while listening to the music.

FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
