Interview with Atsuko Tateno

Home > Designer Interviews > Atsuko Tateno

Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Atsuko Tateno (AT) for A’ Design Award and Competition. You can access the full profile of Atsuko Tateno by clicking here.

Interview with Atsuko Tateno at Thursday 23rd of May 2019

FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
AT: I learned Photojournalism at University of Central Oklahoma, and graduated at 2001. I moved back to Japan to be a photographer, but I could not find any opportunities. But I was very interested in web design at that time. So I studied design by myself. And I got a job as a web-designer. I moved several offices to challenge myself on higher level. I was still taking pictures for myself for those years. After few years later, I figured out that design, art, and photography are all connected. And now I want to be a photographer.

FS: How did you become a designer?
AT: I always have been attracted by beautiful things, such as the moonlight, sundown, and fresh green field since I was a little child. I was also very interested in a job which requires technique, and taste. I watched a movie about a female photographer when I was 6. And I was quite sure I dreamed of being a photographer in the future. I studied photojournalism at University of Central Oklahoma. Unfortunately I could not be a photographer right away after my graduation. But I got a job as a designer, and learned a lot about design. I believe those experiences are very helpful when I become a photographer.

FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
AT: I want to improve my skill as a retoucher. So I would like to work for photo studio.

FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
AT: I learned how to add text to the photos to appeal as a design project.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
