Interview with Arvin Maleki

Home > Designer Interviews > Arvin Maleki

Editor Frank Scott (FS) from DesignPRWire has interviewed designer Arvin Maleki (AM) for A’ Design Award and Competition. You can access the full profile of Arvin Maleki by clicking here.

Interview with Arvin Maleki at Monday 4th of May 2020

FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
AM: The best thing I can say is that I am an industrial designer. I first studied at university, computer systems architecture, and artificial intelligence. New technologies may seem a little strange, but I think design can make technology a very useful tool for all people. In other words, make life more naive and more generous for everyone. In my design style, I always try to use technology at the heart of products.

FS: How did you become a designer?
AM: I think we all have a road map inside us. It is our inner and subconscious desire to do our best. After studying computer architecture and artificial intelligence at university, I decided to move on to industrial design. This migration required a lot of effort and perseverance so that I could gain enough knowledge and experience in this field. But in this regard, I have always tried to achieve everything that helps me do my best. But my best friend helped me make that decision. She had an exceptional understanding of life. She was passionate about life and worked hard and bravely, but at the same time, she enjoyed life. She told me to be the best; I had to pursue my inner passion. So, I decided to go for industrial design.

FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
AM: In design, aesthetics, ideas and product performance are very important to me. In addition, I try to put technology at the heart of my design.

FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing?
AM: I feel an inner joy. The best feeling I can have. I really enjoy creating a new idea.

FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
AM: Zaha Hadid is my favorite designer. Her prominent and stupendous designs are very inspiring. She uses the art of engineering in her design. I studied computer science and artificial intelligence at university, and I'm delighted about that. This gave me a different perspective on design. I can imagine the design I want with the technical details I want. And maybe I can dream more creatively.

FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
AM: Designing new projects especially futuristic and digital concepts. Let's take a new look at the design and make life easier for people—an extensive development.

FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
AM: Design requires creativity, deep inner belief, and study. In art, which is a straightforward yet complex phenomenon, we need to know what art is and what we are looking for in art. Melt and create your mind over and over again. So much, so that artistic creation takes over part of our subconscious mind. But the most important thing is to learn the basics of art. A good designer can think well when he can draw a line professionally. It takes thousands and thousands of times to practice drawing lines and geometry. Whenever you can draw a circle with your mind instead of your hand, you can imagine creative phenomena. The design has a ladder. You have to go up all the stairs one by one. Design, color, volume, and geometry and implement them with all the details.

FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
AM: Design requires creativity, deep inner belief, and study. In art, which is a straightforward yet complex phenomenon, we need to know what art is and what we are looking for in art. Melt and create your mind over and over again. So much, so that artistic creation takes over part of our subconscious mind. But the most important thing is to learn the basics of art. FS: What is your day to day look like?
AM: Going to my companies, study, writing, design, watching the film, and music are the regular activities I do.

FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?
AM: Design is a creative concept. When your design is based on principles, needs assessment, sociology, and purpose are studied and implemented well, it will change the taste of society. People are looking for something that will satisfy their inner thirst for art but also meet their needs. So I try to present the art of reproduction. We can appreciate the essence of art by creating new concepts.

FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
AM: I have my own criteria for evaluating design. Aesthetics, usability, and ideas. These principles are very important to me.

FS: How do you decide if your design is ready?
AM: I always try to do my best. Aesthetics, usability, and ideas are very valuable to me. When designing, I try to consider these principles to get the best possible results.

FS: What is your biggest design work?
AM: Blackhole absolutely. Of course, I still prefer it because I tried to follow all the principles of my design. And of course, it was my first big creative challenge.

FS: Who is your favourite designer?
AM: Zaha Hadid. She is my most favorite designer.

FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
AM: My life is based on constant effort and perseverance. Music flows in the context of my life. In fact, at my birthplace, there is a taste for music in people's backgrounds. Nature excites me and makes me work with more energy and enthusiasm. In design style, I have a strong desire for futuristic design and the use of artificial intelligence. I believe that good design can make people's lives more comfortable and more enjoyable.

FS: Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
AM: We work as a team. For me, commitment, creativity, and a desire for excellence, learning, and improvement are fundamental. Walk the hard way to do the best. Creativity is an important part, so we have to do our best to implement a creative idea. Tireless and persevering.

FS: What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?
AM: From my point of view, the design could change the human`s view of life and makes dreams true, if it is creative, simple, peaceful, and intelligent. Art is for peace and tranquility. Therefore, I always cherish humanitarian projects from the bottom of my heart. Helping young designers is a smart way to develop art. I've ever tried every way possible to help young designers, and in this way, there is no limit for me.

FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
AM: Because the competition is a continuous professional stream, it creates an inner desire to reach the best position. Careful and meticulous judgment without limitation creates the opportunity every day to once again strive to be the best in the high society of the best. This is the essential feature of this event that has made it a very different opportunity.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
