Interview with Yanming Yin at Wednesday 22nd of May 2019

FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
YY: As the pioneer in Shenzhen in the field of interior design.I have applied my experience to designs in diverse universe including hotel, commercial real estate, office space and architecture facades. We innovate diverse developing paths of exhibition, product design, furniture design and non-profit design according to the extended concept of Big Design. Our main projects are nearly everywhere domestically. Moreover, we’ve built and maintained close cooperation strings with more than ten well-known domestic real estate developers.

FS: How did you become a designer?
YY: After I graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Southwest University in 1992, I taught at a technical secondary school. After that, I worked as a graphic designer, a newspaper editor, and an effect drawing hand-painted teacher. Later I went to a Hong Kong company for more than five years. Since there was no room for development, I founded it. Own company. For 18 years, he has always insisted on designing with his own brand. As a Chinese Mesozoic designer, I chose this industry, no regrets, because it brought me not only a job, but also a glory. With the trust and respect of customers, design also truly conveys aesthetic values and leads the way of life.

FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
YY: At the beginning of the design phase, I tend to collect project information, conduct background research, and find relevant and meaningful point extensions and lateral thinking; at this stage, I will draw sketches from a large number of hand-drawn, from the flat layout to the facade stage Find out the relationship, and strive to make space design and dynamic line complement each other, through multiple perspectives to find out the concept and expression of the project, this time everything becomes simple and smooth.

FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing?
YY: Design is a painful and happy process. It was the most exciting and expectation when it was commissioned to design a project, but the process of creation was not easy, because every designer wanted to make breakthroughs and constantly introduce new ones, but the time or cost of some projects may be constrained. In your thinking process, there will be more pressure for restraint; the process of design completion is a release process, and the happiness is more about the expectation and full expectation of the upcoming implementation of the project.

FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
YY: My personal qualifications and professionalism have greatly helped me become a designer. At the Normal University, we were exposed to the expertise of different art disciplines and cultivated a strong comprehensive ability. However, the sensitivity to form and aesthetics made me have more unique understanding and pursuit of the project. More than five years of solid project training eventually led to the formation of a flexible design thinking model and a professional design system.

FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
YY: The design industry is a traditional industry. I hope that designers can have a better understanding of design and form their own ways and attitudes to deal with things. They have been passed down on any enterprise platform. Nowadays, the craftsmanship is something that many of our designers lack now. If everybody has this kind of attitude, I believe that everything you do can be done well, and you don’t care which position you are in, as long as you have this spirit and Attitude, I believe that you must be an outstanding person in the future and you will surely find your best development direction.

FS: You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
YY: Regardless of age, regardless of group, as a designer should have two capabilities: First, the ability to learn; second, to explore the spirit. Design is a matter of life, and there must be awe and compassion for design. In the ever-changing period of the times, every day is new and design changes every day. Therefore, each of us must keep learning, so that the chance of designing value creation will be greatly improved. There is a saying that a successful designer needs a lifetime of hard work and commitment. He integrated a variety of identities, architects, artists, fashion icon, photographers, lighting designers, travellers, marketing experts and personal image designers.

FS: What is your day to day look like?
YY: My daily life starts from the exercise and I swim for 40 minutes to maintain my best condition. The day of my life is in the morning. I will clean up my day's work priorities before I do design every day, and then I will read information and a quarter of the time. News, of course, often enters the independent thinking and creative mode at night. Each weekend I will have one day to empty myself and play golf with design partners.

FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
YY: The quality of the work I will focus on the idea of the work itself through the space and the inner feelings. First of all, I think the atmosphere that the space can convey must be comfortable; secondly, the space must have a certain level of maturity and control over the overall control; many designers are able to design in the local space is very colorful, but the overall There is a slight lack of control, so the integration of space as a whole is also one of the criteria for judging.

FS: What is your biggest design work?
YY: The transformation of the facade of Shenzhen Art DesignCcenter has implemented the first, second, third and fourth phases of the project with the concept of cube. It has created an influential value system from both the design and business models. In 2016 I designed and donated the public welfare project The Third Space Yuxi Hewai Primary School in Yunnan Province, from the building to the indoor space integration, the entire design from the form and history of the cultural context of the same strain, for the rural children to create a free space to release the soul.Chengdu Vanke New Park Villa House project is an exploration of our concept of new Chinese style design and art integration system. This project won the 2017 SBID International Interior Design Award, the German Design Award Special Mention and the Kinpan Awards Best Villa Space of the Year. We opened up the way to look at designing and researching Chinese-style works, and we constantly introduce new ones.

FS: Who is your favourite designer?
YY: My favorite designer is American architect Wright. He has similarities in the use of graphics and the cosmic view of life and the oriental aesthetics. This unity of man and nature is a state that I hope works can present. There is also a Berlin Jewish Museum designer Daniel Libeskind who inspired me. In April last year, I visited the Museum of Jewish History for the second time. In Libeskind's deconstructionist application, I found that he organically combined the rhythm of music with the symbiosis of architectural forms, and that Libeskin himself was a musical genius from childhood. His achievements in piano are not. In the field of building construction, its visually powerful architecture and interior space form fully reflect the extension and connotation of the design. It also allows us to once again realize the deeper expression of the phrase building is solidified music. The combination of art will give us more unlimited possibilities for designing the future.

FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
YY: China has a vast area, great differences between North and South, and rich regional culture. Taking Shenzhen as an example, Shenzhen is a city of design, a cutting-edge representative city, and a place of concentration for design concepts and talents. Through this window of Shenzhen, we are in line with the world, constantly updating our thinking in a diversified information age and enriching our own design strategies. The new understanding of the future is more important than wealth, which is where the power source and the target are.The inspiration my music brings to me is everywhere. I have a work habit that must include music when we are conceiving a design plan. I am particularly quiet and cannot think of anything. Folk songs, jazz and some lyrical songs are my favorites, so if there is a designer at work in our company, music will never stop. It gives me a job that is to enjoy the comfort of life.

FS: Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
YY: Design is being redefined continuously accompany with changing of time and trends of aesthetics. As a practitioner of complete design system, Creative Space holds on to the design concept of “Integration of hard decoration and soft decoration” to combine clients’ real needs with design concepts. We provide integrated service package of hard decoration design, soft decoration design, purchase and execution. Our main projects are nearly everywhere domestically. Moreover, we’ve built and maintained close cooperation strings with more than ten well-known domestic real estate developers. We fully understand the value, effect of value-added, importance and influence of what we convey through our designs. Through good communication and cooperation, we can finally embody the integration of design value and business value through our designs.Under the motivation of pursuit of “design of life and art”, Creative Space design team led by Mr.Yin Yanming keeps growing and developing. Only through changing of design commons, emphasizing the application of design and art in space and method of integrated discovering can we seek for new enhancements.

FS: What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?
YY: The professional pursuit of designers is to create beauty, discover beauty, shoulder the responsibility of leading the way of life and reshaping the aesthetics of life. On another level, apart from taking customers as the most basic commercial definition of design, we can Come and do something for the community. For me, I have always paid attention to education. In 2016, we donated the Zhuozuo Building, the third space, at Hewai Primary School of Yi Village in Eshan County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, to supplement rural education and improve children's quality education.Designers can use our skills, use our strengths, and really do some of the attention that leads to education. Of course, we cannot only have a public-spirited heart. The key is to really do practical things and be able to really help the school. This is also where people's views on me can resonate. For me, I hope to use different perspectives and different ways to reflect the places where our designers can do it and move and help others.
