Interview with Milica Maric at Sunday 18th of March 2018

FS: Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
MM: After graduating on Faculty of Applied Arts, Department of Interior Architecture, in 2010 she founded WOOD MOOD DESIGN, a solid wood furniture line of product, for which she received several awards, among which several international ones.

FS: How did you become a designer?
MM: My grandfather is Carpenter, my dad too, so all my life I was in production of solid wood. When I think about furniture I think about solid wood furniture. I ,so pose, that all that bring me to design.

FS: What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
MM: Form, Function and Construction.

FS: Which emotions do you feel when designing?
MM: Pension. When I have some idea, I can not stop, until I find hove to make it.

FS: What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
MM: After graduating from high school (department of natural sciences and mathematics) in 2005 I went to study design. So, in my design is lot of geometry, I think because of that. On the other hand, I really like to read. Lot of books, that I read made influence on me.

FS: What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
MM: I do not have big prances. I just work what I love.

FS: What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
MM: Do with full heart with passion.

FS: What is your day to day look like?
MM: I start my working day at 7 p.m. I tray to finish it at 4 a.m. But often I stay longer. How I already sad, when I have good idea I can not stop until I finished it.

FS: How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?
MM: I do not really care about trends. I think that I have my own personal design style. I get my inspiration from nature, geometry and books. So, I think, that is trends for all times.

FS: How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
MM: I think that good design defined form, function and construction. So, when I design I think about this three things. But, on the other hand, when I finished something, lot of people from different professions see and express there thoughts about that.

FS: How do you decide if your design is ready?
MM: I do not really know to ex plane this. For some, I know after two day, for others I need weeks. I just really, can not ex plane.

FS: What is your biggest design work?
MM: I am really proud of my WM coffee table. This is my firs work and that is the work that I work on all year, with lot of people. And while it was beginning I did not know thing that I know now. People, when see this table they know that it is WMD brand. And I got International design award for it on L.A. USA. So because, of that all...

FS: Who is your favourite designer?
MM: Jacobson, Konstantin Grcic and I like e15 brand, Scandinavian design etc.

FS: Would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
MM: I really like skiing in Winter and driving rollers in Summer. Exempt design this two thing are important part of my life.

FS: Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
MM: I live my work. That is my lifestyle.

FS: What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
MM: I think that people started to think more about WMD product after I got award. For some it is very important that someone on International level say that design is good. It is important for sealing, too. Better seals product that got award.
