| DESIGN NAME: N.Born PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior Design INSPIRATION: Highlights of the first floor is inspired by the distinctive and lively charm at makeup lounge of the theater back stage, which is closely associated with lightbulb mirror glorifying the performers. The custom-made and over-sized luminous mirror is spanned between ceiling and floor which creates a sense of privileged honor and to re-emphasis founder’s intention of treating floor as a VIP lounge. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: N.Born salon is located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. It contains three floors and each is estimated around 720 square feet. Each floor is intended for different functions and purposes. This project develops an approach to infuse raw and rough elements such as low-quality wood, polished concrete, rusted iron, exposed brick wall,.. to create a industrial and vintage look but inviting space where clients can experience the attitude and unique aura within. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Since each floor is limited to its long narrow space, the first floor is designed to fit only two seats reserved for VIP clients, and reception counter to create this airy and open friendliness. With the old Vespa scooter parked at the entrance to greet clients, it anchors the key theme of this entire space. For general hair cut and perm services, there are second and third floors to accommodate those guests. While the first floor is treated as a special sanctuary for VIPs and being decorated in that manner, the functionality and ease of flowing around are the crucial aspects for design consideration. There are not many rhetoric elements to make a bold statement as the first floor, only necessary furniture and equipment exist in harmony with the space, but still the industrial style is continued and executed thru the customized wood & iron furniture. The custom-made and over-sized luminous mirror is spanned between ceiling and floor which creates a sense of privileged honor and to re-emphasis founder’s intention of treating floor as a VIP lounge. Also, the old worn gigantic wheel was transformed into a lighting fixture hung on the ceiling which reinforce entire vintage look and feel. NAME: N. Born Salon PROFILE: N.Born salon is located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The entire service area contains three floors and each is estimated around 720 square feet. Each floor is intended for different functions and purposes. N.Born salon is founded and managed by a veteran hair stylist who practiced the skills mainly in Hong Kong, Taiwan & China. After 20 years floating around, he decided to settled down in Taiwan and opens his own shop to manifest his idea about what a salon should be. He insists that a salon is not just a place where the hair dressing service is provided but to create an environment where clients can experience the attitude and special aura of the salon itself. |
