| DESIGN NAME: HYM Seed PRIMARY FUNCTION: Turntable Speaker INSPIRATION: Brand new Vinyl, records experience Vinyl records is one of the best way to experience the music, however, the traditional record player needs lots of devices to assemble and existing various obstacles. Seed is a brand new device which integrate the professional MM turntable, 70 RMS speaker and amplifier in a highly craft twisted wood design appearance. We enjoy music through all sorts of devices and various formats, and vinyl takes us to the core of great sounds, but getting into vinyl can be intimidating and expensive, which makes it hard to available to everyone, that’s why we make Seed, we hope Seed can be one kind of high quality music furniture, and let you enjoy the vinyl life at home whenever you want. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Seed is a kind of music furniture, comes with the curved surface and flip appearance, it looks more flexible and modern with built-in speakers than traditional turntables This all-in-one player smoothly integrates Hi-Fi sound with convenience and tone quality. More than just a turntable, Seed has a built-in three-point suspension vibration system, enabling the cartridge to play stably and provide the original, true sound of whatever music style you choose. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2015 in Shenzhen and finished in 2017 in Shenzhen, and was Conference in Beijing in August 2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bent wooden case of Seed is made up of complex surfaces and formed by hot pressing. There is a precise relationship between the shell and suspension. Therefore, the 4 parts of the process are interlaced to make the deformation less. ‘Three point" suspension system contains four different densities of material that absorbs oscillations at different frequencies, which make the record read smoothly under the high power bar output. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 380mm x 350mm x 250mm TAGS: HYM, seed, hymseed, SeedTurntable, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In recent years, people's habit of listening to music has gone through the vinyl record, tape and CD . until 1994, the emergence of IPOD has brought convenience to MP3. Now listening to music becomes very convenient But in the first ten years of twenty-first Century, vinyl record is still not eliminated. There are still a group of people who are passionate about vinyl record and return to the media form that can provide "entity" experience. The United States has pointed out that in the statistics by the end of 2015, nearly half of the American vinyl record consumers are under the age of 25, however, for beginners, a lot of equipment selection and high cost make them struggling to vinyl records, HYM team hopes to build a modern turntable that can appeals to more young people with good music quality. CHALLENGE: The case is made of natural material, which may be in deformation because of weather difference, that lead to the suspension system un-workable, so to make Seed read vinyl record smoothly, each part of Seed is assembled very precise in different processing methods and characteristics of the material.
