In daily life, the blind people are often in danger on the road because they cannot accurately determine the road conditions, especially when they are crossing the road unable to perceive the color of traffic lights. Therefore, we hope to design a cane which can induct the traffic light for the blind people. In addition, we further observed that the traditional blind cane for blind people cannot stand, so it is inconvenient for them to use. Thus we improve the way our traditional blind cane used.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The design of this cane for the blind with a beautiful curve broke the simple shape conception of the traditional cane. The handle fits the palm which is ergonomic. The red light sensing device at the bottom can recognize the signals, then the vibration from the dot array will be produced to inform the blind of the road light. Roller device is applied for the cane foot for easier-walking.The right angle design is applied for the bottom of the blind cane and it can stand on the ground steadily.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When the blind with a blind cane in hand cross the street,induction device on the front of the traffic lights can sense the signal sent from where blindman stand and feed back the signal to the dot shock on hand.Therefore,the blind can be well informed of road conditions through touch.What’s more,the roller can better help the blind feel the ground conditions.The blind can quickly covert the angle of blind cane by pressing the button on the handle,which makes the upper part of the blind cane vertical.Comblined with the design of the bottom right-angle，the blind can have a short rest by trusting in the cane. Finally the blind can hang up the cane when idle, the placement of the cane and convenient access.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The main part of this blind cane is made of aluminium alloy,which uses anodize oxidation treatment technique,thus solid and durable.Shaft is covered by total reflection film,and pasted in the centre of the cane are red stripes,which are designed to give warnings to the pedestrian and the traffic around the blind.The blind cane is very light,and the button beside the handle controls the parts at the cornor of handle,which can moderately adjust angle of the handle.The cane’s foot is equipped with roller,the end of the cane touches ground,rotating and rolling,which can not only reduce the abrasion,but help the blind walk smoothly.The core technique is the use of traffic light wireless induction system,which produces dot shock at the handle,reminding the blind of the operation of traffic lights.

We followed the daily life of the blind and entered the blind school to have first-hand experience，communicating with them and summarizing the problems that we had found. Meanwhile we combined with the analysis of the similar products in market now and we found that the existing product only had a single function with some instability.Also the design was not humane enough so it couldn't be a good protection of blind privacy. Thus,we have been committed to designing a humanized blind cane.
It's not an easy designing process since we keeps making tremendous efforts to come up with the most suitable and perfect product and thinking of how to combine the design with the functions perfectly. We designed the existing product from all kinds of attempts by making use of the ultra light clay for better coincidence with ergonomic and the degree of comfort. Our team visited the school for the blind for many times in order to explore the potential reasons that hinder the blind from walking out. Through patient communication with them, we found that the dehumanizations of the product and their psychological barriers were the main reasons for their reluctance for walking out, Among which psychological barrier is a more paramount factor. Therefore, for protecting their self-esteem we replace the click notice cane for the voice prompts cane .
