PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mixed use
INSPIRATION: The architecture in Al Madina AlMunawara has unmistakably Islamic identity that reflect the cultural values of its local society.
The project aims to represent the regional architecture, which continues to influence present-day architecture by creating an environment that can enhance how people live and interact with each other and urban environment.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main entrance points reflect the Islamic architecture characteristics. The arched Shape gate, open space and the manipulation of shadow and light using a wooden canopy can be clearly seen in the proposed design.
The openings followed a musical rhythm by conducting a movement in time and space to present three main elements of the elevation design; the entrance gates, the different types of windows.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: -
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is located in Al-Madina city, KSA, and was presented to client in April 2015, construction on sight has started, and it is expected to be completed at the end of 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Main Design Software: AutoCAD, Sketch Up, 3ds Max, Vray, Photoshop CS, After effects, lumion.
Stone and marble are used for their high affectivity in thermal isolation and beauty.
Exterior wall finishing is a mix of white stone of Riyadh, Emperador marble and processed Metal.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total area 6610 m2 (Length: 119.0 meters Width: 28.5 meters). The complex has 32 apartments and 15 commercial stores.
Architectural Height: 13.2 meters, three floors (3.30m per floor).
Ground floor plan: 2066.8 square meters.
First & second floor: 2191.6 square meters.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research field was to understand the cultural roots of the Islamic architecture and domestic needs of the local society.
CHALLENGE: Al Medina has a strict building regulation due to the city importance. The plan area is limited to only 60% of total land area with compulsory rebounds on the borders.
The most important demand to our client was to take maximum advantage of the land, with its rectangular shape (1: 4 ratio).
The whole plan is divide into two zones, the commercial zone as a main priority is located on the main street. On the other hand, the residential zone is proposed behind the commercial zone to keep the privacy of the residence function.
