PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Personalized noise reduction and shading

INSPIRATION:
During long-distance flights, traditional eye masks and noise-cancelling headphones take up space when carried separately, and the noise-cancelling effect is limited. By integrating light-shielding eye masks and active noise-cancelling headphones, it adopts a foldable design to improve portability, and customizes a noise reduction algorithm for the low-frequency noise of aircraft engines to reduce storage volume while optimizing the sleep experience.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Skyrest is a smart sleep mask headset for long-haul flights, combining noise-canceling headphones and a light-blocking eye mask in a foldable design. It fits in your palm and easily stores in an airplane seat pocket. The device uses hybrid ANC technology and memory foam earplugs to reduce engine noise by up to 35dB. Its 3D silicone nose padding and breathable fabric block out light and ensure comfort. The adjustable buckle fits various head sizes for extended wear.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The smart eye mask headphones connect to an app via Bluetooth, allowing users to operate them on their smartphones. They can select the desired noise-cancelling mode and type of white noise, set sleep duration, and activate the smart sleep mode. The device offers a comfortable wearing experience while ensuring effective noise cancellation and comfort, allowing users to rest peacefully during flights.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project began in Shanghai in August 2024 and concluded in Shanghai in February 2025.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Foldable Structure: The eye mask frame is made of ultra-thin fiberglass-reinforced nylon, with a folding lifespan exceeding 5000 cycles. Noise-Cancelling Module: Features a 10mm custom dynamic driver combined with a hybrid ANC solution using both feedforward and feedback, reducing power consumption by 30%. Fabric Technology: The outer layer is antibacterial and quick-drying, while the inner layer is a cooling gel, designed to adapt to the dry cabin environment.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The smart eye mask headphones are an innovative product designed for long-haul travelers, combining the functions of an eye mask and headphones. They offer active noise cancellation and white noise playback, helping users effectively block out external disturbances and improve the quality of their rest during flights.

CHALLENGE:
The biggest challenge in developing the smart eye mask headphones was how to balance noise-cancellation effectiveness with comfort, especially during extended periods of wear. Additionally, achieving the best rest experience amid airplane noise and light interference was also a key problem the team faced. Through continuous optimization of design and technology, the team ultimately succeeded in overcoming these challenges.
