| DESIGN NAME: Feel Ordinary Life PRIMARY FUNCTION: Aromatic Candles INSPIRATION: Inspired by the everyday habits of Chinese people, this product offers a surprising twist on the familiar. By transforming the pungent ingredients of ginger, garlic, and scallions into elegant candles, we create a stark contrast between the expected and the unexpected. This unexpected juxtaposition of form and function is designed to spark curiosity and delight. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the ubiquitous ingredients of Chinese cuisine, ginger, garlic, and scallions, this scented candle reimagines these familiar forms into a unique and artistic olfactory experience. By blending traditional Chinese culture with contemporary design, we have created a product that offers a feast for both the eyes and the nose. For example, the ginger-shaped candle features a blend of floral and fruity notes, while the scallion-shaped candle offers a woody and floral combination. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Due to the asymmetrical shapes of the ginger, garlic, and scallion, each candle burns uniquely, constantly evolving as the wax melts. Every lighting is a surprising work of art. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This limited-edition gift is exclusively available at Tsutaya Books, OoEli, Hangzhou from April 2023 to April 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The handmade candles are meticulously crafted to replicate the exact shape of ginger, garlic, and scallions. Each candle is infused with a unique blend of essential oils, carefully curated to capture the essence of these culinary staples. The ginger candle features top notes of aldehydes, pear, and lily-of-the-valley, middle notes of iris, rose, and orange, and base notes of musk, patchouli, and abelmoschus. The garlic candle opens with a fresh blend of coriander, lavender, and white pine, followed by a spicy heart of nutmeg, pepper, and hemlock, and a woody base of iris, musk, and cedarwood. The scallion candle begins with citrusy top notes of bergamot, cardamom, and vetiver, transitioning to a heart of sandalwood, cypress, and abelmoschus, and finishing with a soft base of white musk, violet, and patchouli.
