DESIGN NAME: Daylight Reflection
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential
INSPIRATION: The design theme is Scandinavian, and the main color is light white, with color matching and the transformation of different materials to give the whole space a lively and bright feeling. In addition, the design team has taken good care of the color proportion, decorating the modern interior with colorful elements. The project perfectly utilizes the advantages of its high floor and windows to compensate for the shortcomings in lighting, allowing the whole room to have perfect natural lighting.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In the entrance hall, the black ash wood pattern is arranged on the ceiling and extended to the beams. The beams with wood elements are additionally illuminated by LED strips on both sides, which not only divide the height of the beams but also serve as an indicator for visual guidance and route. The blue wall and marble in the living room are compared to the green iron and glass in the study room, which is separated by the beam, highlighting the lively Scandinavian style.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The wiring of the kitchen ceiling was planned with consideration. There are beams in both directions in the area, so they can be used to conceal the air conditioning and dehumidifier equipment. By wrapping and concealing the appliances with the beams, the ceiling height of the living room can be maintained, and the lighting can increase the sense of spaciousness. On the other hand, the back wall of the sofa not only increases the vividness by color matching but also adopts a strip design to show the fresh and soft color and modern style.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2021 and finished in August 2021 in Zhonghe Dist., New Taipei City, Taiwan.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The space is designed in a Scandinavian style, and the bright and colorful atmosphere of the space was extended. The public area of the original base has a non-square pattern, and a beam cross through the entire space, making the space divided. After the design team carefully planned the routes, the whole space has a sense of fluidity. The design team takes the beam as the point to define the sites. The materials used and the mood lighting make the beam a part of the design, and the beam can be seen as a boundary between the public and private areas.
CHALLENGE: There is no square space in the apartment, and the width of the beams is large. Therefore, the design team used the glass partition in the study to divide the living room from the kitchen, while the beam with a new look in the space by applying wood elements. In addition, the air conditioning needs to be concealed in the ceiling, which will lower the height of the space. To install air conditioning while retaining a sense of comfort and flow, the design team's wiring configuration and the decoration of the ceiling were challenged.
