| DESIGN NAME: The Exchange PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bar INSPIRATION: The Exchange Bar is in the Blackstone Apartment, which is in the former French Concession. It marks the modern architectural classics of Shanghai with an eclectic style. Its design language derived from the traces of Shanghai in the 1930s, when and where it is located. It was flashy and gorgeous, lazy and mysterious, unique and unusual, introverted and self-sustaining. It accepts the infiltration of the western culture but stubbornly maintains the national tradition. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Exchange Bar seems to take you to the heyday of Shanghai in the 1930s. There are the old newspaper at the entrance and the dining table covered with coins. There are also from the vault shape of the stage and the two private boxes of the vault and the account room. The bar is everywhere to tell you the name "exchange" and the origin of the bar owner. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We adopt the fusion style of Shanghai in the 30s. The visual centre of the entire space is the golden turntable. It is the centre of the stage on the central axis. The shape coincides with the turntable of the bank vault, which illuminates the "exchange" from its name. We used traditional style elements such as coins, abacus, checks, newspapers, etc., and redesigned it with modern techniques, creating a mysterious atmosphere with extravagant. The Exchange Bar takes its design language from the traces of Shanghai in the 1930s, where it is located. CHALLENGE: The Exchange Bar is located in a historically protected building, and the design of the bar needs to take into account historical and site factors. The space of the site is also small, but due to business needs, a variety of functional blocks are required in the site. In addition, as a bar with no advertising, it also needs to have a unique appeal to attract customers.
