Half Production Brand Identity

Half Production Brand Identity is a sophisticated visual branding system designed by Malaysian designer Chin Hock Cong for a photography and videography studio, embodying the philosophical concept of balance between fullness and emptiness. The identity system's centerpiece is a distinctive oval-shaped logo inspired by the act of water being poured, metaphorically representing the studio's core philosophy of continuous learning and humility. This visual metaphor is particularly significant as it suggests that when a vessel is completely full, there remains no space for growth or improvement, thereby reinforcing the brand's commitment to perpetual development and creative evolution. The design, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category in 2022, masterfully integrates the dualistic nature of the studio's work - the interplay between light and shadow in photography, and the balance between commercial requirements and creative expression. The visual identity system was developed through extensive client consultation during December 2021 to January 2022, resulting in a cohesive design that effectively translates the studio's philosophical approach into tangible visual elements. The sophisticated implementation of this concept demonstrates exceptional understanding of visual communication principles, successfully merging functional requirements with creative innovation while maintaining strong aesthetic appeal and brand recognition.
