Curve Glass Drinking Glass
Curve Glass Drinking Glass
Curve Glass Drinking Glass is an innovative drinkware design that reimagines the traditional drinking vessel through a thoughtful intervention in its form, featuring a distinctive curved recess along its rim that serves multiple functional purposes. Created by Serbian product designer Vladimir Zagorac, this 330ml glass vessel stands 140mm tall with a diameter of 69mm, exemplifying how minimal design modifications can significantly enhance user experience and functionality. The defining characteristic of this design is its carefully engineered recess, which serves as a secure holding point for straws, eliminating the need for two-handed operation while drinking or stirring beverages. This innovative feature not only improves the drinking experience but also serves practical purposes in maintenance, as the recess facilitates better water evaporation when the glass is placed upside down for drying, thereby preventing the formation of unpleasant odors and mildew. Manufactured through a sophisticated process of glass blowing inside a mold, with the recess created using precise laser technology before final finishing and reheating, the design maintains an elegant silhouette while incorporating functional innovation. The versatility of the Curve Glass extends beyond its primary purpose, offering creative possibilities for garnishing beverages and cocktail preparation, while subtly discouraging the placement of cigarettes on its rim. This design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, represents a significant advancement in everyday object design, demonstrating how thoughtful modification of familiar forms can lead to enhanced functionality and user experience while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
