Parasita Plant Container

Parasita Plant Container

Parasita Plant Container is an innovative conceptual design that explores the symbiotic relationship between parasitic organisms and their hosts through a unique two-part planting system. This sophisticated piece, designed by Mexican designer Csar Llanos, consists of a crystal host vessel and a cement-based plant container that creates an abstract representation of parasitic relationships found in nature. The design, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category, demonstrates a remarkable fusion of functional design and artistic expression. The container system features a specially crafted cement piece that serves as the parasite element, while a crystal vessel acts as the host, creating a visually striking interaction when combined with water. The design draws inspiration from parasitic plants, particularly orchids, which obtain nutrients from host plants rather than soil. The cement component, produced through a meticulous process involving Hebel carving, silicon molding, and cement casting, maintains optimal soil moisture levels while creating an optical illusion through its interaction with water. Available in three different sizes (5x12cm, 10x20cm, and 18x25cm), this conceptual piece not only serves as a functional plant container but also delivers an artistic commentary on interdependence in nature. The design's innovative approach earned recognition at the A' Design Award competition, highlighting its contribution to both functional design and artistic expression. The container comes complete with soil and seeds, allowing users to participate in an experiential process of planting and witnessing the visual transformations as water interacts with the graphic elements of the design.
