When you win the A' Design Award, you keep full copyrights and patents to your design. You simply grant A' Design Award a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to publish and promote your winning work. A' Design Award follows best practices for safety, and we offer concealed categories for patent-pending products and trade secrets. A' Design Award values your privacy, collects only the necessary information, never sells your data to third-party advertisers, and gives you control over what you share or make public.

Keep Your Full Copyrights and Patents

When you win the A' Design Award, you keep full copyrights and patents to your design. You simply grant A' Design Award a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to publish and promote your winning work, and in return, you receive the same unlimited, perpetual, royalty-free license to use the official A' Design Award Winner Logo in your marketing and communications (our Logo License is provided free of charge to Professional and Digital Edition laureates only, without contractually obligated winner fees). If you are a winner, we will also ask you to sign an affidavit where you state your work is original and you have the right to grant us a license to promote it. You keep the ownership of your designs, products, projects, ideas and concepts submitted to the A' Design Award. We respect your Intellectual Property.

We advertise eligible winner works heavily. Public disclosure, such as A' Design Award & Competition publishing your unpatented design as part of competition results, can affect your patent rights. For this reason, we have created Concealed Categories, which you can nominate your patent-pending or not yet patented works. Results of the Concealed Categories are not published publicly (you can still get a certificate), which is useful when it comes to patent applications, as well as trade secrets. Concealed Categories are also great choice for all projects that require absolute client confidentiality. When you join the A' Design Award, you keep your patents, regardless if you join Concealed Categories or Public Categories. You do not assign or transfer your patents or copyrights to us. You only provide us with a license to promote your work.

Data Security and Safety Measures and Privacy

A' Design Award aims to keep your information safe and secure. For example, we do not store your password in our systems, we do not even store encrypted versions of your passwords; instead we store a salted and encrypted hash that is calculated based on your credentials; the cryptography algorithms we use are deterministic algorithms, similar to how blockchain works, when you update your password, the calculated hash gets updated, when you login, we verify if the calculated hash values match to those we stored in our database. This way, without knowing your actual password, we can identify you, by not storing your password, we are taking a step towards risk reduction. We implement many safety measures like these.

A' Design Award and Competition does not track you online, we do not sell your data to third-parties for advertising. We send registered users limited number of deadline reminder emails, as well as inspirational content such as winner's lists when results are announced, or interview with winners or world design rankings, you can opt-out of our notifications at any time. You can even request to opt-out from our service mails. We respect your choices. In addition to Concealed Categories, we have also created Privacy Settings that you can access from your Control Panel which allows you to control how and where we can promote you.
