Sedra Mamou
Sedra Mamou is an independent jewelry designer based in Istanbul, originally from Damascus. Her interest in art began at an early age, influenced by a family environment connected to creative fields. In later years, she explored mandala compositions and participated in exhibitions, expanding her engagement with visual arts. Although she initially considered pursuing drawing, she later discovered jewelry design as a field that closely aligned with her approach to detailed work and artistic thinking. She graduated in Jewelry Design and began developing contemporary wearable pieces through a material-based practice. Her work includes techniques such as micro mosaic, enamel, and metalwork, applied through a consistent and process-oriented method. Her design approach focuses on creating detailed and expressive pieces rather than minimalist forms. She emphasizes the importance of a design having artistic value in addition to its aesthetic qualities. While she can adapt to different design directions when required, her personal work prioritizes originality and the presence of artistic expression within each piece. Sedra Mamou continues to develop her practice through independent projects, exploring the relationship between form, material, and construction.
