This page provides an overview of the A' Design Award's Underrepresented Categories Support Programme.

Networking Effects
Since its inception in 2009, the A’ Design Award has given a significant importance to networking effects that is how participants from different categories create value for each other; we did this while other awards were mostly specialized in a single category or categories in a specific industry where every entrant is your competitor, we designed the A’ Design Award with many different award categories but most importantly these different award categories were aimed at different industries, and with many different participants from diverse fields; such that when you win A’ Design Award you do not interact just with your competitors but you also have the opportunity to connect with people who may become your collaborators. Learn more about Networking Effects.

Creating Positive Networking
In order to increase our Networking Effects, to find more collaborators for our laureates, and to increase the diffusion of the A’ Design Award in different industries, we have created this special campaign to attract designers from diverse fields, to recognize and award good design in all industries, in all categories.

Make it Competitive
We are happy to sponsor your entry via digital nomination, if you created a design suitable for nomination to one of our underrepresented design award categories. If the design award category relevant to your work does not have significant number of past laureates, we will consider this an unrepresented category, regardless of how many participants there were for this category (some categories have low number of winners even though they may have high number of entrants, but we will just take published winners for consideration, and thus this applies to our regular categories only.) We will be pleased to provide you with a complimentary nomination ticket to nominate your work to one of our underrepresented design award categories so that we could have a healthier more diffused competitive environment, with more collaborators, and more reach in different industries. Within the scope of reinforcing our underrepresented categories, we have three campaigns. Of course this program also applies to our newly announced categories.

Categories to Reinforce
The following award categories may benefit from your complimentary participation: Game Design (CAT #175), Virtual and Digital Art Installations Design (CAT #170), Circular Economy and Regenerative Design (CAT #182), Motorcycle Design (CAT #171), Electronic and Video Game Design (CAT #96), Digital Product Design (CAT #80), Costume and Heritage Wear Design (CAT #185), Smart Living and Home Automation Design (CAT #160), Communication Equipment, Devices and Apparatus Design (CAT #70), Eyewear Design (CAT #179), Architectural Lighting (CAT #177), Entertainment, Content Creation and Streaming Media Design (CAT #34), Bicycle Design (CAT #72), Playground Equipment, Play Structures and Public Park Design (CAT #157), Commercial Appliance Design (CAT #68), Scooter Design (CAT #172), Digital Art (CAT #81), Video and Broadcasting Equipment Design (CAT #38), Information Technologies and Software Design (CAT #181) and Hospitality, Restaurant and Catering Products Design (CAT #46). If your design fits nomination to any of these categories, first you must upload your work, and then get a preliminary score. If you obtain a preliminary score of seven (7) or higher, you may contact our support and request a complimentary digital nomination ticket valid for making an entry to one of these categories..

Categories to Innovate
We would wish the following award categories to have more Platinum or Gold winners; Construction and Real Estate Projects Design (CAT #76), Energy Products, Projects and Devices Design (CAT #58), Scientific Instruments and Research Equipment Design (CAT #64), Design Quality and Innovation (CAT #94), Wearable Technologies Design (CAT #89), Vehicle Parts, Auto Accessories and Care Products Design (CAT #59), Idea and Conceptual Design (CAT #21), Cultural Heritage and Culture Industry Design (CAT #82), Agricultural Tools, Farming Equipment and Machinery Design (CAT #31), Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Materials Design (CAT #92), Hardware, Power and Hand Tools Design (CAT #26), Social Design (CAT #20), Meta, Strategic and Service Design (CAT #23), Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Products Design (CAT #32), Education, Teaching Aid and Training Content Design (CAT #65), Scooter Design (CAT #172), Luxury Design (CAT #83), Aerospace and Aircraft Design (CAT #69), Yacht and Marine Vessels Design (CAT #66) and Trade Show Architecture, Interiors, and Exhibit Design (CAT #180). You will notice there are many participants and many great works, but what we are aiming is to have exceptionally good works that could obtain Platinum or Gold to be represented among other amazing Silver, Bronze and Iron level projects, as such if you have a design that fits nomination to one of these categories that obtains a preliminary score of nine (9) or ten (10), regardless of your account type, you may contact our support and request a complimentary digital nomination ticket valid for making an entry to one of these categories..

Categories to Rejuvenate
The following award categories, even though have a lot of entries, may benefit from a fresh perspective of new and original works. Commercial Appliance Design (CAT #68), Smart Living and Home Automation Design (CAT #160), Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Products Design (CAT #32), Cybernetics, Prosthesis and Implant Design (CAT #87), Costume and Heritage Wear Design (CAT #185), Wholesale, Retail Trade, Commerce and E-Commerce Design (CAT #88), Aerospace and Aircraft Design (CAT #69), Safety Clothing and Personal Protective Equipment Design (CAT #43), Eyewear Design (CAT #179) and Architectural Lighting (CAT #177).
