| DESIGN NAME: Collection Faceted PRIMARY FUNCTION: Furniture INSPIRATION: Collection Faceted is designed to explicit the unique experience of Tirol, where nature and people coexist and complement each other, using natural resources, developing traditions and taking care of the environment. We decided to look at the traditional local wood from a modern angel in order to bring it out in a fresh design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Faceted are made of identical spruce cants what makes this collection unique. Solid wooden details provide the necessary stability on the one hand, and please eye, urging you to touch and feel them, on the other hand. The facets elegantly expose the exceptional texture of the wood. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Faceted chair collection is born in the region where people and nature beneficially coexist and interact. The Faceted are made from traditional Tirolean spruce wood, which is the most popular and at the same time quickly renewed material. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2023 in Innsbruck, Austria, and finished in February 2024. The Faceted has not been exhibited yet. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: All the products are made from identical 44mmx44mm cants. The production can be realised in small woodcraft workshops, does not involve complicated manufacturing operations and is therefore low-energy consuming. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1. The town of Innsbruck is located inthe heart of Austrian Alps. Originally this mountainous region with dense forests is famous for woodcraft. Brand came about with an ambition to combine traditional approach, optimised production, local natural materials and contemporary design in elegant furniture products. CHALLENGE: Spruce has long history and culture of woodcraft in Tirol. It represents history and beauty of harmonic lifestyle with nature. Unique features of spruce wood allow creating volumetric details with relatively low weight to achieve the required stability and durability. The process integrates traditional methods, eco-friendly technologies, skills and experience of local masters to bring out spruce wood in modern design.
