| DESIGN NAME: Art in Tranquility PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior Design INSPIRATION: Inspired by nature, the designer infuses earth tone and neutral finishes into the design. By keeping abundance space within this natural design scheme, the residence feels calming and spacious. Functional minimalism is achieved by making use of sleek storage. The beauty is accentuated by delicate combination of high quality textured materials like steel and marble, giving this abode an impression of introverted luxurious. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Visitors are welcomed by an impressive modern artwork. A broad but sleek storage unit smoothly connects with a stone-textured feature wall and the sliding frosted glass kitchen door, going all the way from the entrance to one end of the residence. With the highlight of light troughs, the perceived square footage of the residence is amplified. A light-filled and spacious living room is attentively opened up for family gathering and chilling with friends. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The design is a modern home in a delicate combination of wooden accents and textured materials. Visitors are greeted by stylish artwork and impressive feature wall in stone-textured material and steel. A broad but sleek storage unit smoothly connects with the stone-textured feature wall and a sliding frosted glass door. The perceived square footage of the space is amplified by ambient light. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design makes use of wooden accents and selection of textured materials and decorations that look modern and chic. The feature wall is not only signified by the stone-textured pattern, but also by its unique arrangement and fusion with steel - which make it very eye-catching. Designer has tailored-made different cabinets throughout the whole residence. The design enables abundant natural sunlight pouring into the residence, contributing to an airy and light-filled interiors. The family has 2 kids, both of the couple are professionals who have high standard of living. The couple likes to invite their friends to home gatherings. The designer hopes to enhance the lifestyle of the family, by creating a stylish and calming 213 square meters (2,295 square feet) abode which is suitable for hosting home parties and has its unique signature. CHALLENGE: The apartment is not shy of space, however the ceiling is low, the designer has to work around to avoid a claustrophobic impression. With the highlight of light troughs, the perceived square footage of the residence is amplified. Low profile furniture helps to maximize the space between the ceiling and the floor, creating a less confined space. The smooth transition from the sleek storage unit to the feature wall and frosted glass door also helps to maximize the perceived horizontal distance.
