| DESIGN NAME: Sky City PRIMARY FUNCTION: Misc Architecture INSPIRATION: The Sky City-Foshan Vanke TOD Mixed Use Project is located in Foshan, China, boasting great site conditions. It is not only near subway stations, bus stations, wharf and expressways, but also close to Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre. With such prominent geographical conditions and cultural background, the project aims to build a new city landmark, create a unique public space through innovative designs and lead the urban lifestyle. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 1. As a TOD project, it has convenient access to expressway and various public transportation facilities such as metro, wharf and bus stations. Aerial pathways and underpasses for walking and cycling are also built, offering more options. 2. To echo local history and culture, the "mulberry dyke fish pond" model is utilized in the layout and architectural forms. 3. It aims to serve the whole city, become a new city landmark and offer support for conventions and exhibitions held nearby. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Sky City, with a total construction area of 60,000sqm, is located in Foshan. It's a TOD project integrates large shopping mall, hotel, office buildings and apartment. This project is the China's first set of Vanke real estate own five-star, three-star hotel brand of "Zhanyun", "Zhanyi" and the super high-rise star hotel projects, it is help Foshan to connected to the ICEC, underground rail Transit, Hub landmarks for business centers and business offices. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The project consists of a 240m super high-rise office building, a 150m super high-rise star hotel and six 150m super high-rise superior apartments. All of the towers are enveloped by glass curtain wall system, which comprises double-layered insulated low-e glass, aluminum panels and metal profiles. A stone curtain wall system is utilized on the facade of annex of super high-rise starred hotel, and different surface treatments of stone are applied to achieve a rich and complex effect. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Site area: 94,673 sqm Capacity building area: 390,000 sqm The project consists of 4 areas: A, B, C, D. Area A has a two-storey basement and 4 office buildings (A1 block height: 238m: A2/A3/A4 height: 157m). In Area B, there is a three-storey basement, a 150-high star hotel building(B1) and two 163m-high office buildings(B2/B3), an apartment hotel(B4) and a shopping mall(B5, above-ground/undergr TAGS: Super high-rise hotel, complex functions, multiple flows Unit facade wall, ventilator, stone facade, crown RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Vanke Sky City is at the heart of the Tanzhou Bay International Innovation belt. Sky City project as a whole built off the ground, like floating on the subway, hence the name "City of the sky." Hotel close to Guangdong Province Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, with an important role in location marking. CHALLENGE: For Building technology, the strict facade wall cost control needs to solve the ventilation, lighting, air conditioning external machine hiding and maintenance and other technical problems, while ensuring the simple unity of the elevation of the facade wall. Functional layout, we need to coordinate star super high-rise hotels, International Convention and Exhibition Center, underground rail Transit, commercial, high-grade apartments and other functions, to achieve integration and unity.
