| DESIGN NAME: Sapeli Muteo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Door System INSPIRATION: Muteo is a revolutionary product in the area of door and door systems that changes the perception of space. Muteo makes door opening more comfortable and more natural. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This unique solution completely removes the handle from the door surface. The only thing you have to do is just push or pull. Everything else happens automatically thanks to the ingenious solution of the mechanical lock, which, together with the new Z-shaped door, forms a perfectly functional unit. This patented solution offers new possibilities for architects, who can newly work with continuing surfaces of doors and surrounding walls. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The surface of the product can be made from any material from imitation of the wood, reall wood, to glass and metal. The inner components of the door are usualy made from choboard and other wooden based materials. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1000 mm x 300 mm x 2200 mm 25000grams TAGS: door, doorsystem, handless, z-shape, surface RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The main research challenge was to change the whole perception to doors. We had to find the important aspects of door systems and simplify it. Disassemble it to fundamental features, get rid of those you do not need and put it back in the new product. The research showed that the nature movement is not to use handle but just push and pull. Thanks to this we could create muteo.
