| DESIGN NAME: TranS PRIMARY FUNCTION: Moveable Isolation Strip INSPIRATION: Isolation Strip is really familiar in our daily life. As we all know, the isolation strip is temporary product in public area. Sometimes, we need to reset or replaced it. The use-pattern of TranS can avoid the tiring circumstances right now. TranS, which is easier in moving than the usual isolation strip, is designed for those interior and outdoor environment such as airport, cinema, concert, exhibition and so on which needs to set isolation strip by considering daily visitors flow rates. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The traditional isolation strip is really heavy for workers storage it day by day. On the understanding that it is satisfying the needs of basic requirements, our design has revolutionary improved of isolation strip. TranS turn the traditional weight plate into a moveable wheel, so that it can be moved like a cart. Thus, workers can pull the isolation strip instead of move it one by on in every time they trying to reset or replaced it. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When you are trying to move TranS, you just need to pull up the steel pillar. Therefore, balance weight plate will fall down a bit of distance between the steel pillar and because of the self-balance of weight plate, it can rotate 90 degrees. In this way, traditional weight plate can transfer into a moveable wheel, which makes TranS easily in moving. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2018 in LAFA Communal Facility Design Studio and finished in April 2018 in National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Industrial Design in LAFA. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our design is shaped by the silicone injection molding and stainless steel molding technology. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 350mm x Depth 350mm x Height 900mm TAGS: Redesign, Convenience, Moveable RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As all we can see in the public area, every time we trying to reset or replaced isolation strip, we have to move them one by one. It is really heavy and inconvenience for workers in doing their job just because the weight plate is not moveable. To offer a better solution of moving those isolation strip easily, we redefine the weight plate as a wheel. The new definition makes TranS helpful in working time instead of being a headache trouble. CHALLENGE: The challenge of our design is that we cannot find a reasonable way in it’s appearance which is satisfying in function at the beginning. After a certain number of sketching and discussing of our project, we finally find the proper selection which achieves the desired effect.
