| DESIGN NAME: Lupe Pure Cordless PRIMARY FUNCTION: Vacuum Cleaner INSPIRATION: Despite its conception many years ago most (all) cordless vacuums still don’t deliver on the purity of the original vacuums design function- To truly clean by delivering powerful suction for a sustained period. We saw despite popularity of these products many consumers were disappointed and we set to design both a technological solution and a bespoke vacuum cleaner product platform for it. This is the cordless vacuum fully realised. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Lupe Pure Cordless features a patented technology to greatly improve suction performance of a vacuum cleaner on battery power. Up to 5 x more energy efficient in use. We call this the Suction Intensifier and it delivers the ability for the Pure Cordless to pick up more dirt between charges than any other stick cordless vacuum cleaner. Our product platform is different to the mainstream- it is a lightweight, high technology fully capable vacuum cleaner, not an extended hand-held machine. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Lupe Pure Cordless is a designed as a vacuum cleaner that can reconfigure to three forms according to the desire of the operator. Conventional upright for traditional floor cleaning. Detached (stretch) hose for quick access and a lightweight carry mode with just the main body and hose for smaller spaces. Across the three forms it covers the entire envelope of vacuum cleaner operation. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2015 in Bristol, United Kingdom. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Pure Cordless was developed and realised with extensive use of rapid prototyping techniques- including stereo lithography, FDM and vacuum casting. The mass production version will use injection moulded plastic and a unique process using thermoplastic polyurethanes for a unique component within the main pick-up head.
