| DESIGN NAME: Borujerdiha House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: The history of beautiful city of Kashan goes back to 9.000 years ago where archeological discoveries in the Sialk Hillocks reveal that this region was one of the primary centers of civilization in pre-historic ages. The city is well-known for its architecture, carpet, silk, tile and rose water. Among all Kashan's architectural monuments The Broujerdi House has became a landmark and sample of Persian residential architecture. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Broujerdi House is a Persian Garden in the center of Iran In city of Kashan.As the most house in the desert atmosphere, it has wind-catcher. Unique shape of the wind- catcher and light entrances of the ceiling are very impressive. Light, shadows and all those painting on ceiling as ornaments was the inspiring point for designing this ring. Black enamel as a symbol of shadow and Persian motifs in other side of the ring reminds the windows to let light enter. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Simplicity as the most priority in design process made the object obviously easy and daily use. The exclusive design and uniqueness bring more pleasure and satisfaction. With such rich cultural background of object, the audience feels much more confidant and tries to acquire deeper realisation of his/her cultural achievements, current advantages and weaknesses at the same time. Emotionally point of view, these subjective challenges lead to a hidden bond between audience and article; it contributes vaster connection, which does not make sense by ordinary accessories or jewelries. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Project Started in July 2014 and finished in January 2018 in Tehran, Iran and is not exhibited before the A' design Award Competition. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Through designing of Wearable Architecture collection, it became very selective while Kashan has great architectural monuments to choose but in the public eye The Broujerdi House is seen as the main landmark of the city. The house has numerous decorative details to choose but I decided to work on the most conspicuous element of the building which is the light catchers on the Tallar ( Main Hall ) roof. Tow different sides of the ring reflect playing of light and shadow during the day light by applying black enamel on one side and simple sign of life tree on the other side. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Design with Matrix, Made by 18k gold, Weight about 6.00 Grams, color Enamel TAGS: Wearable Architecture, Boroojerdiha House Ring, Kashan, Jewellry, Jewellry Design, Persian Architecture, Iran, Somayeh kianpour, Kia Gallery RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As an architect and individual interest in jewellery design, I tried to design a jewellery collection, which called Wearable Architecture inspired by Persian architectural artworks; taking into consideration different social, cultural or environmental subjects was my aim; Although all the constructions from palaces to urban elements are masterpieces architecturally point of view but only few of them considered as designing inspiration due to their architectural values; mostly chose to emphasise on a specific subjects as mentioned earlier. CHALLENGE: Through designing process of Wearable Architecture collection it was tried to make the pieces easy as much as possible not only to simplify delivering the main idea of design but also considering not complicated making process and keeping the industrial ability of production which make the collection definitely accessible to all who are interested in. Commitment and loyalty to the main artworks that were the inspiration resource of the collection was another challenging aspect of the design process while transformation of urban scale structure to a jewellery function and scale desired.
