| DESIGN NAME: Cura Investment Office PRIMARY FUNCTION: Interior design INSPIRATION: The main feature of the lobby draws on the idea of view borrowing in Chinese architecture and facilitates better interaction between the conference room and the lobby. The circle symbolizes fullness and abundance; the Italian fish-belly white marble highlights the perfect combination of the freehand style in Chinese art and the meaning of wealth. Master Guanzhong Wu’s oil painting, which combines the East and the West, fittingly manifests such lasting appeal and charm. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Our proprietor, Zhong Cheng Group, is a real-estate company famous nationwide specializing in financial investment. The overall image of the company is that of a fiancial enterprise which is sound and stable. The designer thus seeks a lexicon of design and inner logic in keeping with this mission and prerequisite. The end result is to find a convincing balace among the intertwing of spatial massing, and a spatial rhythm among the points, lines and planes. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In this masterpiece, the designer turns to both modernity and tradition, and refines elements which have been consistent in Chinese culture, giving a glimpse of reality through expressing feelings. Through the design, the designer finds a form of logic to express, thereby neither cutting off traditional culture from modern life, nor replicating a mere cultural symbol. With the prerequisite of meeting basic conferencing needs, it also enriches the spatial layering. The processing of the ceilings and the walls, in particular, combines the basic elements of the beauty of Chinese antiquity and modern materials, making CURA Investment Office unadorned but not simple. CHALLENGE: The logo of the enterprise is in the shape of a key in a traditional Chinese pattern, and is meant to open the door of fortune for its clients. Through ingenious transformation, the design incorporates this element into the space in different forms, such as screens, wall partitions, ceilings or even light fixtures, allowing the clients and other viewers to find a clear sense of belonging in the uniqueness of the space.
