| DESIGN NAME: Epicenter Lite PRIMARY FUNCTION: Seismic Alert Device INSPIRATION: The device intends to create a visual reference to the seismic waves propagation. It establishes an attention point, which allows the people to locate it in the space. This way they know there is an seismic alert device that can warn them in a seism. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Skyalert is a Mexican company whose aim is to warn the population about the earthquakes that constantly threaten the cities of this country. By using the Red Skyalert sensor system that they have developed, they can detect a seism, its intensity and geographical location, and that way they can alert the users of their platform Epicenter Lite is a physical system of seismic alert for companies, offices, schools, factories and restaurants, which promises to be sophisticated and efficient. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The device has WiFi connection so it can receive the alarms from the Red Skyalert sensor system, which can detect a seism, its intensity and geographical location, and that way they can alert the users of their platform, mobile app and physical alarm, up to 120 seconds before the seism impacts at their location. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Started January 2018 in Mexico and finished is October 2018 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A single steel frame with multiple sections contains all the electronics, so the device can accept hardware upgrades without changing its form. Plastic pieces serves as enclosure. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 305 mm x Depth 130 mm x Height 175 mm TAGS: seismic, alert, device, alarm RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project is an evolution of design language established by previous products of the company. It is not only about the design integration, but is also about the integration of the engineering principles that define the entire platform. The project intends to be not just an aesthetic approach, but also a solution for the hardware upgrades and new functionalities integration made by the Skalert engineering team. An internal modular frame allows to add new components and make customizations without changing the external appearance of the device.
