PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Recycled Rubber Powder

INSPIRATION:
As most of current outdoor turf bricks lack management will breed of weeds. Reclaimed rubber lawn brick by adopting a concave-convex splicing structure can prevent weeds from breeding and keep the lawn flat constantly. Rubber which can not only lock the moisture in the soil but can also ventilate and maintain the soil moist constantly. Rubber which is possible for flexible processing can create various visual effects by jointing the same shape in different ways to meet various environmental requirements.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Recycled rubber powder processed from waste rubber can be made into lawn brick which is not only low cost but also environmentally friendly. By adopting a concave-convex splicing structure, the reclaimed rubber powder lawn brick requires no joint filling for fixation during laying and simultaneously prevents weeds propagation to keep constant evenness of the lawn. Rubber which is not only capable of locking in moisture in the soil but also air permeable can maintain soil moist and benefit lawn maintenance.It is applicable to outdoor parking lot floor after a simple and fast process of laying. The floor tiles can be designed in various shapes, each of which can bring diverse visual effects by different ways of jointing.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
A flat and smooth surface can be formed by laying and overlapping the front and back sides of the lawn brick. The product can be designed in various shapes according to its use functions and environmental requirements. It can create diverse visual effects by laying the same shape in different ways to meet the needs of various places.

Reclaimed rubber powder lawn brick can be fully guaranteed with edge and surface treatment during the design and manufacturing process. Look for the balance between its thickness and structural strength.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
As most of current outdoor turf bricks lack management will breed of weeds. At present, traditional wave-shaped bricks, grass-planting bricks and grids are still commonly used products in the field of lawn brick in public facilities of countries around the world. The parking lot lawn shows a single visual aesthetic feeling. It is necessary to explore diversified design possibilities for parking lot lawns and square landscaping to enrich user experience.

CHALLENGE:
It is difficult to solve weed breeding between the joints of lawn bricks. Our team finally decided to perfect our design by adopting a concave-convex splicing structure after designing multiple structures and conducting different experiments.

Wenzhou Vocational & Technical College is a full-time comprehensive vocational institute established by the amalgamation of four national and provincial level key technical secondary schools, Wenzhou Business School, Wenzhou Economy School, Wenzhou Machinery Industry School, and Wenzhou Amateur Technology University in 1999 after being approved by the Ministry. With a schooling history tracing back to the year of 1965, the college was founded by Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government and managed by the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province. So far it has been awarded as National Model Vocational College, National Advanced Unit for Vocational Education, Zhejiang Provincial Civilization Unit, one of the first Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Units Approved by Ministry of Education, and one of the first Zhejiang Provincial Four-year Schooling Talent Cultivation Pilot Colleges for Higher Vocational Education.
