| DESIGN NAME: Infinity PRIMARY FUNCTION: Landscape and Public Art INSPIRATION: In the mirror, the reflections form an infinite extension. The physical space of past life was erased and replanted into "virtual space”, however, she is not the original and familiar space. The space in the past bears life, smiles, sadness, growth, and beautiful neighborhood relationships. However, there left only two remaining residual wall, and kind of village culture, which cannot be analyzed rationally. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Trying to use two-way stainless steel plates, mirror-like mutual reflection lets two sides of the building vocabulary, trees, wall of graffiti. Not only creating infinitely extended landscape images, but also keeping the traces of the historical space. To make people walk between the illusion and the reality, bringing a new life and meaning to the place. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The place was an old house which own life and memories, since the people was gone, the house was also teared down. To give life back to the place, through introducing new materials, people interacts with the installation, the unlimited illusions of two-sides mirrors make people relate themselves to the surroundings, like being in the traces of the history, rethinking and commemorating the prosperous appearance of this place. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2017 and finished in 2018, located in Huangpuxincun E. 4th Ln., Fengshan Dist., Kaohsiung City , Taiwan (R.O.C.) |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The damaged part of the original building was preserved, and several vertical steel plates were installed as new interfaces. Every 40cm, two pieces of 60cm mirrors plates were fixed on the newly set L-steel columns, steady on the gables , and the continuous arrangement reflected the different old landscapes. In addition, the frame type steel plate defines different frames to explain the flow of time and space.
