| DESIGN NAME: Arco PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bed INSPIRATION: Arco was born from a selection of words that reminded me the idea of some actions we make when we think about night, sleeping and dreaming. So I started to drawing an infinity line took inspiration from the mathematic infinity symbol. Starting from this I converted the symbol in order to fit better the function of the bed. the result was a unique piece of wood that seems to fly. It seems a non weight piece, but you know that's not completely true ! UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Arco is designed with a versatile structure, which can be made of different types of wood (also providing a possible fabric cushion), or a combination of different materials e.g. wood and leather. The concept is developed from two carries; seamless, unique modules that draw an infinite line. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Designing Arco, was very simple, I took inspiration from the night, when you sleep you dream and a dream is timeless, starting from this concept I thought a sign that reminds me to infinity, so I designed the mathematics symbol of infinity, that was my generating line. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2011 in Milan and finished in March 2014 in Treviglio (BG), and was exhibited at Fuori Salone del Mobile in April 2014. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Arco is made of wood and has some leather on its headbord and on its foot. It is composed of five assembled pieces. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Arco dimensions are: 247 cm Lenght, 186 cm Width TAGS: Design, Bed, Luxury, Designer, Bedroom, Product Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As I explained in other parts, the project was born from thinking about what the furniture and the action played on it suggested me. Suddenly I tried to wright some words that reminds me the night and the dream. A question grown up in my mind..the answer was Infinity, that's the place you go when sleping and dreaming. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this project was finding a company that has the right machinery able to cut a very long piece of wood, once I found it, I was very happy, the cut the wood on my cad drawing, it was fantastic to see my projet growing up under my eyes! NAME: Cristian Sporzon PROFILE: Born in ’76, from Brianza, a major in architecture from Politecnico di Milano, and a career started designing retail stores. Here is where he discovers and gets closer to interior design, challanging himself mixing his cultural and professional background to materials. Nowadays his design gives a shape to daily life through great creative elements. As for wood, leading actor of his first design project. Its incredible ductility and its natural malleability have inspired the designing of these unique pieces, where styles and shapes begin without ever ending, in a optical game to infinity. |
