| DESIGN NAME: Viv PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wasbasin INSPIRATION: Viv washbasin was designed with the idea of sustainable development in mind. Its light, natural and simple shape is inspired by spherical waves and circle geometry. The washbasin intends to facilitate conscious water consumption. Viv's design leads to lower water use thanks to a shallow basin and a hollow at its center. In result, the user is encouraged to reduce the flow of water from the faucet by observing how it gradually accumulates in the basin. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Viv washbasin gives new approach in conscious of water consumption while washing hands. The shape of the washbasin leads to lower water use thanks to a shallow basin and a hollow at its center. In result, the user is encouraged to reduce the flow of water from the faucet by observing how it gradually accumulates in the basin. The materials used as well as the matt finish of the Viv provide comfort of use and strong conection with nature. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The shape of Viv washbasin helps in water reduction while washing hands. The shape of the washbasin leads to lower water use thanks to a shallow basin and a hollow at its center. In result, the user is encouraged to reduce the flow of water from the faucet by observing how it gradually accumulates in the basin. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2018 in Poznan and finished in November 2018. Will be exhibit in arena design in Poznan and ISH in Frankfurt on March 2019. Has won iF Design Award 2019 on January. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Viv washbasin with its thin wall and shallow basin is the result of an innovative approach to design, using Mineral Composite. This is the first product made of this material, which by its form encourages less water consumption. The shape of the washbasin has been created for sustainable development on every stage - from design to production. All products made of Mineral Composite have a smooth ergonomic surface and as such are a pleasure to touch. At the same time a product is resistant to even the most extreme conditions, providing resistance to bending under load, it can withstand impact and extremes of high and low temperatures. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 400mm x 400mm x 100mm. Washbasin is made from Mineral Composite. Due to its unique structure, based on a combination of nature and technology, Mineral Composite imparts exceptional qualities to the manufacture of Marmite bathroom products. Especially methods such as: mind mapping, brainstorming, scenarios, story board, persona's, mockups and prototypes during designing process. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design activity was to implement a complete design process. Achievement of such results requires collaborative and multidisciplinary approach that takes into account design methods. What becomes critical was to decline which of the design methods are best suited to improve innovation and problem solving processes and on which stage of those processes design methods shall be introduced.
