| DESIGN NAME: Mini Window PRIMARY FUNCTION: E-Payment INSPIRATION: In China, more and more people prefer e-payment to cash or credit card. However, there are too many kinds of payment methods used by the customers. The merchant has to prepare various payment QR codes as well as POS (point of sales) devices for customers to choose, which often leads the customers to the wrong scan QR code or incorrect payment. As a result, everyone’s time is wasted, including the merchant, customers and those who are waiting to pay. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mini Window is a quick and convenient mobile payment device, which eliminates the inconvenience of queuing for payment. It is connected with three common payment methods: WeChat, Alipay and China UnionPay. With a Mini Window, you don't have to scan any kinds of QR codes the merchant shows. No matter which payment method you choose, you only have to put your mobile phone's screen in front of the "mini window". Then it will identify your payment quickly, avoiding the awkwardness of scanning QR code. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is easy to use: 1.The cashiers set the total amount of the payment; 2.The customers show the payment QR code in front of the mini window. There is a prompt tone for the success or failure of the payment； 3.The mini window design is plug-and-play and driver-free, supports Windows/iOS/Android/ PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Shenzhen in October 2017 and ended in Shenzhen in May 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main body of the mini window is composed of three parts. Base is injection molding and cover as-mold soft texture. Front panel is 3.5mm of aluminum alloy with anodized finish and also cutting high-glossy of C-cutting edge to bring out the product. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: product size：116*94*111 mm, package size：150*110*192 mm TAGS: Scan Code, Fast, Accurate, Success/Failure Reminder, UnionPay, Alipay, WeChat RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: This product is designed for more personalized payment. Traditional electronic payment devices are relatively cumbersome, and the scanning angle is mostly 0 or 90 degrees, which is not humanized. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring the lightness and beautiful appearance, how to ensure the reasonableness of the scanning angle is a difficult design. Simple and easy to use is the top priority of this design. We made a lot of block models to study about the scan angle and invited a lot of supermarket cashiers and people to test the mini window’s software and hardware’s reliability. We found that 45 degree of scan angle would be the best. We integrate 45 degree of scan angle into the exterior design and use 3 mm of aluminum alloy plate with 0.3 mm of chamfer cutting to bring out the design quality and support the entire main-unit’s structure.
