DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Curious Boxes

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential Design

INSPIRATION:
The user of the household is a newlywed couple. The designer takes the homonym of the word "meeting" and uses "box encounter" as the theme of the whole design. Each area in the house is surrounded by different colors, just like a few different ones. The boxes are combined. This design symbolizes the encounter between the head of the household and the family. From the moment they met, they have been together to the present and have achieved this warm home.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The designer put a pink and pink green on the wall of the dining room, plus pink and gray furniture, forming a pink "box", which makes the dining room full of Nordic style romantic atmosphere. The kitchen features a half-height glass door and a square-shaped compartment that looks like a transparent glass case.Several different boxes make up the entire house, clearly dividing each area to make the separation more distinct.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The kitchen has a half-height glass door and a square-shaped compartment that looks like a transparent glass case. In terms of the room, the master room is dominated by a white wall, with a white wardrobe, bed and dressing table to create a white box. The other bedroom is located next to the living room. The designer has set up a warm wood-colored high-definition TV cabinet in the living room. This cabinet becomes the outer shell of the bedroom, creating another warm wood-colored box. Several different boxes make up the entire house, clearly dividing each area to make the separation more distinct.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in July 2018 and finished in around November 2018 in Hong Kong.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The floor of the unit is relatively short, making it easy to feel cramped. To this end, in addition to the use of white ceilings and white walls to increase the brightness, the designer also chose not to use chandeliers, and the light trough and spotlights as the main source of light, thereby reducing the pressure on the entire dining room. In addition, the environment of the kitchen itself is relatively dark. The designer replaces the partition with a half-height glass door to form a semi-open kitchen, which separates the dining room from the kitchen and allows light to circulate on both sides, making the kitchen brighter. . The bright environment and soft colour make the whole home design full of warmth.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The floor of the unit is relatively short, making it easy to feel cramped. The soft lighting of the light trough and the white ceiling ease the pressure of the low floor. The semi-open design not only blocks the kitchen's fumes from reaching the dining room, but also keeps the light flowing.
