INSPIRATION:
The world of Taiko is transcendent, and the first-hand experience is the only way feeling the spirit of Taiko. Figuratively featuring the shape of mountain, the decoration of entrance door expresses the learning experiences of Taiko are fruitful for everyone.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Taiko, the musical instrument firmly connected to the traditional Japanese culture, is the spiritual symbol inspiring the designer who coherently integrated the interior design plan with the Japanese lifestyle and belief, especially with the culture of Taiko.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
At the reception counter, the pendant lights made of 400 drumsticks symbolize the immeasurable efforts and enthusiasms for being the master drummers. The incalculable dents on the drumsticks are emotionally eloquent. Alongside the counter, the circular patterns on the wall embellished with the six-words Tibetan mantra “om ma ni bai me hum.” The humming sound of these words pronunciations illustrates the sounds of drumming, while suggesting the babies hearing in mothers’ wombs in the meantime, representing the power of lives. Learning Taiko, in the class, stimulates the auditory and optical sensations concurrently.

The project finished in Apr. 2018 in Hsinchu County, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
In the classroom, the cross-like materials on the opposite walls are sound-absorbing, of which the sophisticate structures of wooden bricks mitigate the effect of sound transmission. RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The antique Taiko, replacing the doorbell, at the entrance implies the preparation of mental transition before coming in. The comprehensive adornments of wooden grilles exemplify the classifications of Yin-and-Yang and the drumming rhythms, which are sequential digital numbers 0 and 1.

CHALLENGE:
The applications of decoration materials pursue the agreeable balance between the aesthetic compositions and environmental protections. By means of the applications of innovative experiments, the reinforcement of design works uniqueness and originality amiably integrates the technology and life style. The efforts consolidating the diverse tangible and intangible values are now comprehensively demonstrating the design skills and aesthetics to the design works as well.
