| DESIGN NAME: Reinventing Co-Working Spaces, Distrii PRIMARY FUNCTION: Work Spaces INSPIRATION: The overarching design concept was inspired by the nature of co-working and that this space will play host to a community. Hence, the team wanted to enable warm hospitality to this community. The design elements were nature inspired, incorporating a great deal of biophilic elements such as greenery, wood and natural light. These elements create experiences of nature in a modern workspace. To make users feel homely, the design combines subtle warm elegance with comfortable settings from the ground level up the subsequent floors. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The workspace provides benefits of online collaboration tools in an offline premium space that has balanced social and private spaces. Connected with an architectural staircase, the coworking space has mobile application backed by cloud based system and IoT Technology, focusing on office tools and social circles. It also consists of customizable team spaces and multi purpose halls. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Not applicable. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 62,000 square feet area across six floors. 900 workstations, private work spaces and customisable team spaces, a 200-pax capacity multi-purpose hall and a food & beverage outlet. TAGS: open office, commercial, office, interior design, co-working RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design team had to familiarize with the fundamentals of setting up a co-working space. They had to consult with the Client to thoroughly understand the business goals to offer recommendations in space planning and allocation. For example, test-fitting to develop the ratio between private and collaborative work spaces, real estate efficiency and the integration of technology into the space. CHALLENGE: The key objective was to effectively integrate the client’s proprietary enterprise collaboration and productivity tools space. The space had to accommodate to different work needs in a balanced provision of private and social spaces. Due to the nature of the space, there had to be strategic space planning to maximize real estate efficiency to ensure there will be no 'dead corners'. The architectural staircase that enables visual connectivity also anchors the basis of space utilisation. The enabling of the various work settings had to be carefully planned to flank the staircase.
