| DESIGN NAME: Comfort PRIMARY FUNCTION: Transforming Footwear INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the collection is focusing on people's mental loneliness. With the developing of the economic, people are busy with their work. Though they are busy every day, their spiritual world might be lonely. Especially for those people who are working for their future and having their dream fulfilled, or a foreigner hoping to be accompanied and comforted. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Comfort is designed to appeal people's mind and take more care of themselves in the physical, mental health. The collection pieces are mainly made of fabric and cotton as soft as our pillow and comfortable makes people feeling relax and being accompanied. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The original idea of the work comes from the feeling when people wrap their pillows while sleeping, in this way people seem to obtain a comfortable, relaxed and relieved emotion. In the design combination of cloth, cotton, and leather treatment are used. We have created another wearable 'pillow' through its softness and comfortable surface. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2016 and was finished in the month. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Italian cowhide leather, lambskin lining, laser cut acrylic heels, treatment of fabric and cotton SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Women's footwear in US size 6 TAGS: Comfort, Accompany, Spiritual, Footwear, Accessories, Showpiece, Wedges RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The original concept of the series originated from the concern of loneliness in the metropolitan people. The designer studied specific groups who relocated in big cities to work and sometimes felt lonesome without friends and family. They moved into a big city and settle down in a new environment with a dream of change and gain a bright future. In order to fulfill their dreams, they work harder and have less time taking care of themselves after work. They may make new friends after moving in, but they will still feel lonely sometimes without families . By exploring this particular group of people, the author designed a series of cozy works trying to give them comfort and accompany feeling while using. Also, the author studied and researched on depression that early depression is not observed. How to remind and urge people to pay attention to mental health is one of the important factors in the design for the author to considered. Hopi through the work I urge people to pay attention to mental health and comfort these brave dream-makers through their works. The author is trying to remind people the importance of mental health. CHALLENGE: The challenge is mainly about how to make the design realizable. First is how to make all those cotton stay in the right place together with the fabric and stay stable, then to treat fabrics on leather. Meanwhile, the laser cut heels also need to be adjusted in a perfect fit with the shoe arc. The attached method of the shoe makes it transform from an angel boot to a knee-high boot. NAME: Jingwen Zhang PROFILE: The designer believes that all designs should come from real life and is able to explore the small details that should stand ready to be the source of the inspirational elements of our design. With the recognization of her true calling in accessory design, the goal of bringing in special, eye-catch design for accessories as the discipline combines fashion, function, and creativity. Designer's project is focusing on the deep exploration of the soul's needs for the human being, which is also an important expression of the author's concern for people mental health in a positive way. |
