DESIGN NAME:
Fusital H377 Serie SL D.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Door Handle

INSPIRATION:
Traditional features are combined and restyled with contemporary aesthetic appeal. Two sources of inspiration were involved: the bold geometry of traditional Chinese brass hardware and antique door lockset. Designer has reinterpreted these fundamental elements into a contemporary modern design aesthetics. The standard brass finishes provide various material options such as dark bronze, titanium and black matt, representing the traditional, industrial and contemporary style respectively to match with different interior design.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The finishes were meticulously selected: the dark bronze finish evokes the important heritage that has inspired the collection; the choice of titanium gives the handle a seemingly “unfinished” and industrial appearance that is extremely elegant and contemporary; the matt black version is a great timeless classic that contrasts perfectly with total white interiors.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The door handle is one of the most important, but often the most overlooked elements of interior design. It determines a person's initial approach to space, offering a visual and tactile experience that creates the first impression of an interior. Defined by the designer as “a bold statement”, the entire collection was designed for interiors featuring minimalist elegance: the H377 collection has great appeal, presenting a contemporary minimal design with the optimal balance of aesthetics and functionality, exploring while paying tribute to the deep origins of traditional Chinese culture.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In order to blend the contemporary aesthetics with traditional Chinese culture, we started with something as simple as shapes – circle, square and arch. Circle represents completeness, unity and femininity in Chinese culture, and this shape has widely inspired the architecture in China like moon bridge in Purple Bamboo Park, Beijing, arched doorway in Li Yuan Garden, Suzhou and Tulou Hakka Village, Fujian. Meanwhile, square shows masculinity, precision and stability, where it is extensively seen in modern buildings nowadays. To enhance the product characteristics, arch was as well incorporated as it is one of the greatest architectures in ancient Europe and is still celebrated today like Palazzo Della Civilta, Rome, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan and Portico, Bologna. The use of and shapes establish the product DNA demonstrate how we bring out the best of the Italian client and merging contemporary style and the beauty of Chinese culture.
