| DESIGN NAME: Sense the Emptiness PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: As Buddha said,"Form is emptiness,emptiness is form".Everythin UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In subtle and slight forms,all the regions of the house are intermingled without losing their separate identities.By carefully designing the windows,coupled with the ceiling film of irregular shape,the space is given a breath of original ecology. The wall with shape of rolled paper and the reflexed wall of the study room give the space a little interesting atmosphere on the simple style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Space design is the design about people. And one essence of residential design, is the equilibrium between life and arts: Look the life from the view of arts, and enrich the arts with our real life. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2016 in Shaanxi and finished in August 2017 in Shaanxi. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: About the selection of materials, only white emulsion paint, wooden floor, and some tiles with random pattern were in the vision.By presenting the natural features of the essential characteristics of the simple materials, we use the simplest materials and colors to compose a pure space atmosphere but with tactile appeal. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This project is a 370 square meters house modified from a workshop.Nothing in the initial space. TAGS: Residential Design,China, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After years of working in residential design, I come to understand that everyone’s spiritual world is colorful. As a designer, I try to find it, explore it and present it. Then I can create an artwork with life and arts combined. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge in this project was the irregularly shaped ceiling pattern in the living room and dining room. The original design, the irregular shape is difficult to grasp in the construction, after the experiment, with the most simple construction methods, and finally achieve the desired effect.
