| DESIGN NAME: Leisure Furniture PRIMARY FUNCTION: Comfortable to use INSPIRATION: The fast-paced urban life makes people yearn for the simple and convenient lifestyle. Jumping out of the paradigm of common furniture which normally is supported by four points, this product utilized the stability of three points and the anti-corrosion and hard property of steel in its design, whereby making its structure more concise. To add the whole sense of quality, it uses walnut wood for embellishment. The chair back chooses the most ergonomic angle and combines with modern people's aesthetic requirements about modelling, which enable people to fully enjoy the relaxation and comfort when taking their leisure time. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This product is featured with material combining steel and soft-packing technology; based on the characteristic of simplicity and elegance of modern furniture, its steel frame adopts the three-footed pattern and hook-and-fold connection to realize lively modelling and smooth lines. The connection structure of the whole set of furniture all adopts welding and hook connection, which not only guarantees the beauty of its modelling, but also ensures the reasonability of its structural functions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The furniture consist of three parts: chair, side table and ornamental vase. Users can sit in the chair to drink tea or read books, use computer on side table. While the ornamental vase is suitable for cultivating aquatic plants or accommodate dried flower decorations. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It started in Shenyang in September 2017, completed in Shenyang in January 2018, and was exhibited in the Art Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang in June 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The supporting part of this furniture adopts steel frame. Its different parts are welded through CNC and manual processing approaches. The chair back and sitting part are integrated with the soft-packing technology. The bending pattern of steel and chair back is controlled properly to realize the comfortability and functions of side tables and chairs. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The steel frame is manufactured through CNC milling and welding technology while the soft-packing part of chair adopts tailoring and weaving techniques, which combines the whole production process of the furniture. TAGS: Creative furniture, Leisure, Bending, Combination furniture, Steel RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Firstly, the weaving material is used, then, wood and steel are adopted to make the furniture more dynamic and have strong resistance to pressure. The interconnected positions adopt welding structures. For the turning part, steel bending is utilized to increase the whole sense of load-bearing. It is plain in modelling, simple and concise in structure and has strong operability in the production process. CHALLENGE: First of all, how to bend the whole steel frame in a proper angle and pattern is the biggest challenge. Secondly, the connection between the supporting strength of the entire furniture structure and the connection between the various parts is also a challenge. NAME: LuXun Academy of Fine Arts PROFILE: The predecessor of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts (LAFA) was the Yanan-based Luxun Arts College (LAC) founded, in 1938, by the pioneering generation of Chinese Revolutionaries including Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai. Mao personally handwrote the Motto of LAC: “Strenuousness, Seriousness, Diligence and Modesty”. The college was removed to Northeast China in 1945 and evolved to Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in 1958. |
