| DESIGN NAME: 2 in 1 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Fitting Room Lock INSPIRATION: There is the circumstance appearance in fitting room in our daily life, if you get too much clothes in, you may leave your belongings on the pothook after you trying on. Design team offer you a new solution in fitting room’s lock design, which is blending in traditional Chinese latch’s semantic and can solve this issue in combining doorknobs, pothook and lock. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 2 in 1 can be used as doorknobs, pothook and lock in the same time. When you in the fitting room, you can hang the hanger on 2 in 1 and because of the unique shape of 2 in 1, hanged hanger combining with 2 in 1 and the door become the lock of the fitting room. After you take the hanger down, those doors can be opened again. Ingeniously, the way of locking door is really convenient and using hanger as a lock can avoid the situation that folks forget their belongings after trying on. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: First, hanged hanger combining with 2 in 1 and the door become the lock of the fitting room. Second, the door will be locked while you are trying on. Third, after you take the hanger down, those doors can be opened again. The unique modeling design makes installing convenient and fast. Workers can install 2 in 1 behind the door and those reinforced structure inside 2 in 1 makes it more burliness. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2016 in LAFA Communal Facility Design Studio and finished in August 2017 in National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Industrial Design in LAFA. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our design is shaped by alloy molding technology. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 40mm x Depth 60mm x Height 100mm TAGS: Redesign, Combination, Sustainable RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To offer a better solution of fitting room lock and solve the problem of forgettable belongings, we find a solution in the fitting room’s lock design. As we all know, every fitting room needs a pothook and a door locker. We trying to combine them with each other, then we have got the idea of 2 in 1. CHALLENGE: The challenge of our design is that we cannot find a reasonable way in it’s appearance which is satisfying in function at the beginning. After a certain number of sketching and discussing of our project, we finally find the proper selection which achieves the desired effect.
