| DESIGN NAME: Clexi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Keyholder INSPIRATION: Security has always been a major concern for everyone on the planet, whether as it was in the past, protecting your village and resources from thieving tribes or as it is today, protecting your personal information from hackers online, until now there have been a number of applications and devices designed to address this issue. However these applications and devices have all lacked a key ingredient, a beautiful and elegant design. Combining a gorgeous design philosophy with industry standard security architecture, Clexi offers an innovative solution to the digital security space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Clexi is a delicate combination of technology and accessory design that logs into your accounts and devices automatically and securely with the click of a button. Right out of the box, Clexi will manage your passwords, offers smart lock capabilities and doubles as a fashionable key holder which can carry both your real and digital keys (passwords) comfortably and securely. Additionally, the device offers proximity-based security and will automatically lock your applications and devices as soon as you leave their area. What’s more is Clexi functions in three different modes, as a leather key holder, a designer wristband or in a small clip style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Clexi operates as a peripheral via a wireless Bluetooth connection physically storing user’s credentials on the device itself. Featuring an accelerometer, the device will protect user’s privacy by automatically locking the PC upon the detection of movement. Additionally, for added security, users must approve any unlock requests made by a device by confirming their presence with the click of the physical button located on the face of the device. A white status LED indicates the user of Clexi’s status at any given time. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2017 and ended in Dec 2018 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Plastic,injection molding,rubber paint, leather, titanium key carabiner and stainless steel SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The product dimension are 30 mm x 9 mm x 30 mm TAGS: Smart keychain, Password manager, Digital life, Identity & authorization solution, Authenticator IoT device. Fido, security. accessories RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After identifying the significant challenge of effective password management and online security, in an increasingly digital world, the first step was to analyze best practices, find security bugs as well as consider the factors that may improve the user experience? Bringing together a broad range of experiences in technology and accessory design, we wanted to create a meaningful relationship between both aesthetics and function. To do so we conducted market research including focus groups and user interviews, brainstormed a personal mood board, color and material palette, as well as an immersed ourselves into the idea and it’s challenges. CHALLENGE: One of the main challenges in the design phase of Clexi was the ability to shift easily between different modes of usage, clip, wristband and key holder. Secondarily, managing manufacturing costs whilst trying to design an attractive, functional and user-friendly product, became another significant issue. However of utmost importance was to ensure that Clexi offered the highest standards available in digital security.
