| DESIGN NAME: Vintage Grandeur Roha PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tourism Development INSPIRATION: Travelling places is the best way to learn. This is a rule which I abide to. Road trips to the country side have been my favourite. They take you back to your roots. Indian heritage architecture has always enthused me. The construction techniques, the intricacy in detailing and the simplicity is something which is overwhelming. In this project I made use of traditional Indian design which amalgamates in with the serene landscape. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sustainability is the unique feature of this project. This vernacular bungalow has a MANDIR (temple) as its focal point. The Mandir sits on a higher level showing supremacy. The farmhouse has an effortlessness in its design. The state of art techniques along with locally available materials has enhanced the entire appearance of the region. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There was freedom of movement while designing this area. Designing this part has given a breather to vernacular architecture. The structures sit amongst the surrounding creating harmony. All the native trees have been planted which adjust to the surrounding with ease. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is located in Raigad, India. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Locally available materials have been used during this project. Some material like wooden poles, plastic containers, metal bowls have been reused to create lighting fixtures. Use of vernacular architecture has resulted in creating a welcoming and homely atmosphere. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Master Plan Area - 250 acres. TAGS: Sustainable, freedom, vernacular, simplicity, tranquil, comforting RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research was conducted on a native level. The soil type and quality was studied cautiously. Accordingly the plantation was done. The simplicity of forms and structures has been derived from the regional architectural style. CHALLENGE: The high profile client wanted a plush resort which blended in with the surroundings and created an authentic look.
